Aerosmith may have their hard-rock wings, but they won't truly fly until their inventiveness catches up to their fast-maturing professionalism.

Much like Steven Tyler wails on Back in the Saddle, I'M BAAAAAAAAAAACK... after the Olympics took over my life for two weeks.

Anyway, this is great! It's more of the same but is probably Aerosmith's most consistent album, there's nothing as great as Sweet Emotion but it's 35 minutes of great catchy rock.

Highlights for me are Back in the Saddle, Last Child, Rats in the Cellar and Nobody's Fault.

The slightest bit better than Toys, but both are essential listening and some of the best hard rock of the 70s. But, with songs like Back in the Saddle, Rats in the Cellar and Lick and a Promise, this just smidges it out a little bit

Suitably this one rawks a little harder than its predecessor 'Toys in the Attic' - intriguingly this is the Aerosmith album that leans the least on huge selling hits or ballads, yet still comes across as a beefy set of tunes, so a very respectable choice for anyone's favourite 'Smith album.

A really influential hard rock release that no doubt paved the way for many bands to follow, certainly almost all glam rock and those who skirted closer to metal like Guns n' Roses.

Despite its legendary reputation in Rock and Hard-Rock history the reality of the tracking exposes a deeply top-heavy record. Beyond a very specific trio of genuinely good tracks the remaining majority ... read more

The first two tracks on Rocks are sort of sick, but I feel that the rest of record falls into the inevitable mainstream hard rock loop of mediocrity. Aerosmith leaves one struggling to come back for more to chew on.
