This is most certainly the same band that draws frequent comparisons to Tool, with its crunchy guitar attack and Loeffler's unforgettable vocal delivery. But it's their ability to pull off such flippant tales with their characteristic punch that gives Sci-Fi Crimes a humanizing appeal not found on their previous records.
"Sci-Fi Crimes" is easily Chevelle's BEST and most STRIKING album in their entire discography. It delivers the full Alternative Metal package AND more with amazing song ideas and cut-throat vocal performances.
Chevelle is a band I've always loved songs from and liked their albums. I loved the vocalist, and the instrumentation, despite a lot of their records having maybe a bit too much filler on them, which prevented the albums from being engaging all the way through. But ... read more
I really like Chevelle. They're definitely one of my favorite radio metal bands, and their consistency is practically unmatched in their field. They have a really solid sound that they don't really deviate from too much, but I think they do it just enough, and provide enough good hooks, that it just works for me. Another one of my favorite records and bands in general. I think this one holds up great and still has a mystique to to their other records don't. Sleep Apnea has a fun simple riff, I love the structure here, letting it build. Great chorus with nice power.
