This is often referred to as a sequel or continuation to Slowhand despite not having nearly the same popularity.
I personally prefer this quite a bit to Slowhand, The track list just feels more consistent to me as well as lacking a lot of the sappiness of Slowhand, this record has some great rockers like ‘Roll it’ and ‘Watch out for Lucy’ (with the latter being a favorite of mine), an almost 8 minute blues number ‘Early in the morning’ and even a brilliant ... read more

After the mammoth success of Slowhand jump started Eric Clapton’s career again, he found himself under immense pressure to follow up with an even greater album under the watchful eye of the press, and as far as follow up albums go, Clapton payed it safe. Certainly it does not have the highs of "Slowhand", but this project is much more concise and has less "lows".
