In theory, Telegram is a remixed album of all the songs from Post, but the arrangements are so different, it might as well be another record entirely.
Subverting the dance-floor intent of the remix with typical ice-princess irreverence, Björk's Telegram project is not just another pointless exercise in loop-fitting and pitch-bending but a complete reinvention of her Post album tracks, complete with new vocal tracks.
Nearly every track is an original and worthwhile interpretation of its Post predecessor, but the whole turns out to be a bit of a schizophrenic conglomeration.
Ultimately, Telegram isn't so much an admission that Post wasn't commercially viable as an attempt to make the album more of what it already is, letting the songs breathe in a slightly different way for those of us back here in the 20th century.
How the fuck did she get more cutting edge, some of the shit on here sounds like the kinda stuff going on in the underground right NOW. There’s a lot more noisy, industrial and ambient production peppered throughout this remix album, making already experimental and cutting edge songs sound like something that could still be considered boundary pushing today. Since I loved Post so much, I thought it would be worth it to check out the remix album of it. And I wasn't disappointed! This project is a mix of orchestral, more epic renditions, as well as ambient and more electronic/trip-hop type instrumentals. Some of these tracks can honestly come off really sinister and dark, especially the closing Headphones remix.
