Sadly, the guys seem uninterested for much of the rest of the record. Perhaps they realize they've become one of Warp's most revered assets and can therefore spend most of their studio time slacking while still receiving tons of critical acclaim and watching their album sales skyrocket.

I refuse to believe that a project over an hour long with 11 tracks should be labeled as an EP. On what universe is this an EP??
Fucking great project though, and some of Autechre's best tracks to date.

It’s a long ass EP and honestly I believe it should still be considered as such not just because of the name being EP7 but because these tracks feel like LP5 b sides. It’s still pretty neat tho. EP7 is a solid IDM ep with some blends of Glitch and Glitch Hop. Some really fucking good tracks here, but with some boring tracks, I would rather listen to the former separately than the whole ''EP''

EP7 is 60 minutes of Autechre stress-testing their own tools in public, and calling it an EP is less a provocation than a confession. These are transitional sketches — processes being auditioned, methods being broken in — and the problem is that transitional sketches are only as interesting as the destination they're heading toward. Here, the destination is the full software abstraction of Confield and beyond. EP7 is the doorstep, not the room.
