Devils and Dust is ... as immediate and troubling as this morning's paper.
Boss Or Toss?: Part 13.
Devils and Dust is not an album that I would have ever heard of outside of a Bruce Springsteen deep dive and maybe that’s because this one dives into the folk side of Springsteen again, following the immediate and fantastic The Rising, which I adored from the rip. The title track as an opening has some interesting stringwork and an even better set of lyrics but at this point in his career, I don’t think i’m in the mood for another diet Nebraska. This album felt like a combination of his last album and Nebraska. I thought this album was consisntely pretty good but there really wasn’t anything that was too amazing on here. The opening song was beautiful. The rest was pretty good.Honestly, I wasn’t paying the closest attention but I liked most of what I heard. Still though, Bruce is a goat for real.
the whole album is massively boring + his vocals on "all im thinking about" is terrible.
