Mob Rules and Heaven and Hell work well as each other's companion pieces, making the first round of Dio-fronted Sabbath material a bright spot surrounded by relatively grim efforts on either side.
'Mob Rules' is Black Sabbath's tenth album, and their last involves Ronnie James Dio, who joined the band in 1979. It is similar to the predecessor, 'Heaven and Hell'. Mob Rules, the second Black Sabbath record with the new lead singer, Dio. Some people don't like Dio, which I can see why. His voice seems kind of basic compared to Ozzy's instantly recognizable smoker-voice. I'm in the majority though, and I like Dio. This project is a bit darker and grimier than the previous record, but simultaneously, it's hooky and fun. 10 albums into their career, Black Sabbath is still making some really good stuff. đź‘»

One note about this album to address before anything is that this one features Vinny Appice on drums instead of Bill Ward. With that out of the way, the second album of the Dio era starts off decently enough with “Turn Up the Night”. Anyway, mob rules is very similar to heaven and hell i would say, like some of the tracks could be swtiched to different albums and it wouldn't sound too out of place. However, I think track by track, this album is better than heaven and hell. Though heaven and hell is more iconic, I think the tracks are better.
