To paraphrase the late Sir John Betjeman: "Oh friendly bombs come fall on Megadeth/They're shit".

Up to this point, I've been higher on every Megadeth album than most, at least here on AOTY. But there's really no excuses for Risk. This is absolute bottom-of-the-barrel music from beginning to end.

Look, 'Insomnia' is actually a pretty great track with an infectious hook and a floaty, 80s clubhouse type aesthetic that's quite compelling. But after that, all you get is an overly long compilation of awful butt-rock songs that all make you want to rip your ears off. ... read more

Regretting The Past Albums
Album Number 11.

I'm honestly not a huge fan of megadeth, I like their classic albums as they are pretty great tbh but otherwise its nothing I ever come back too.

Megadeth's attempt at making their own Load came out more like a St. Anger and an even worse one, I'd argue a lot worse.

Could be worse, you could release a documentary trying to explain why your album sound shitty, exposing yourself to the world to know that you are a bastard, a moron and a alcoholic with issues with your past, plus shows your band almost breaking apart.
Now I'm lost in the joke. Ulrich, Hetfield and ... read more

God, this album is so bad, but it's carried HARD by a few songs. Megadeth's only album I will never want to return to.

Well then, the first truly mediocre album in the bands eventual downfall that I was not looking forward to. This album is definitely my least favorite from all of the bands albums up to this point. There were basically no songs I thought were good and all of the songs on here fell between bad and ok for me. There were so many weird vocals, weird writing, basic instrumentation, and some boring moments all throughout. My biggest issue with this album is that this sounds nothing like the bands ... read more
