Will.i.am's fourth solo album is exactly the Death Star-size Jägerbomb you'd expect.

Entertainment Weekly
Skip to the guest spots and hope for an all-instrumental follow-up.
40
PopMatters

#willpower is an overstuffed pop album that tries too hard to be trendy while not trying hard enough to be cohesive or truly meaningful.

40
AllMusic
will.i.am sounds remarkably like his heart isn't in it throughout the record, bored on the job even though it's his job to get the party started.
40
The Guardian
The result: an album that should keep him in the charts while he's busy as a judge on The Voice – but only because of those guests
40
The Independent
18 tracks of mindless thumping electro-rap in the company of Will.i.am and friends is like being trapped in the lift with the worst selection of people this side of Thatcher's funeral.
40
The Observer
It might look as if making music is no longer will.i.am's chief concern. That suspicion is certainly borne out by this underwhelming fourth solo album.

Slant Magazine

#willpower awkwardly chases what its numerous producers (15, by my count) no doubt think are impending pop trends.

There is nothing fulfilling about “#willpower.” It’s hip, it’s slick, it’s polished, and it’s an utter waste of time.

No Ripcord

At this point, will.i.am is so deep-rooted with his mega status that he’s become the living embodiment of a machine that produces barely edible, mass-produced sludge to the point of no return.

#willpower.

At one point in time, will.i.am, the glue binding together The Black Eyed Peas, was a respected MC and producer, but once the new decade started to roll around, will.i.am moved away from his traditional easy-on-the-ears but still great instrumental sound and started to incorporate a more EDM sound into his production. And for a short time the cash was rolling in, but as with every trend people get tired of it and move on to the next one, leaving The Black Eyed Peas to fade into ... read more

альбом не настолько плохой, каким его клеймят. радует достаточно качественный продакшн и общее понимание жанра
его главное преступление - скукота и затянутость, особенно если слушать не делюкс версию. потому что филинг майселф кач0вая хитяра на все времена

this is nearly exactly how MBDTF always sounded to me; dated early 2010s production, songs' lenght stretched the hell out for no reason, generic club beats, occasional string sectons here and there and extremely stupid lyrics.

the difference in here is that sometimes it bangs. (i will never understand why that album is so glazed while this one is extremely hated)
