That the lyrics and sound of songs like “Dreams,” “Linger” and “Ode to My Family” are still relevant is a testament to the superior writing of O’Riordan and Noel Horgan.

AllMusic

Something Else is worthwhile for the faithful, offering new spins on songs that they likely know by heart, and is an easily digestible snapshot of their 20th century output for those in need of a reminder of the beloved Limerick group's legacy.

A couple of new songs are added to freshen things up, though you’d barely notice a difference among the classics – underlining perhaps how much they’ve remained faithful to the sound that first launched them into the big league.

Under the Radar

Something Else does contain a decent and different perspective on some compelling music from the '90s, it's just a little disappointing it isn't something better.

With a classical and borderline Folk sound, it feels like a journey down memory lane and Cranberries’ history.

There is something intrinsically sad and touching about listening to The Cranberries' acoustic album two years after Dolores O'Riordan's death. Sure, it's a collection of some of the band's greatest songs from the 90s, as well as three new songs, but it captures the dreamy, depressing yet immensely catchy sound the band is known for in a whole new way.

The three new songs sound like the band does on their final album and unfortunately, they get lost among the golden nuggets that make up the ... read more

An acoustic reworking of their most popular tracks and it’s really good. That was kind of expected though. The original songs are so well written that it would’ve been hard for this to turn out bad. Stripped back like this, the strength of the melodies and lyrics really shines through. Everything feels more intimate and reflective, without losing the emotional weight of the originals.
