Freedom Child is one of the most laughable pop albums I've ever heard. The Script has never been a great band, but never has their work been this embarrassing. This album contains so many pop rock cliches and trends, all wrapped up in bland, derivative instrumentals.

The lyrics are the worst part. They seem so desperate to inspire and be meaningful. All it ends up being is pretentious and horrendously corny. Especially when they bring in the hip hop. You can really feel their frontman's age. ... read more

This is the album when they changed their sound. Some of it worked. The first four tracks are really good pop songs, but the middle really drags with filler and messy ideas (Mad Love sucks and the autotune in Wonders doesn’t sound good). The ending is decent with Eden, Written in the Scars, and Freedom Child. The writing is a mixed bag. It tries to be serious in some songs but ends up cliche. Overall, a record that needs a trim.

I have very mixed feelings about this one.

Immediately, Danny’s vocals are so off here. He sounds so dull and like he was forced to sing for this album. At least for the calmer stuff, because on the other hand, things like Deliverance and Wonders are very good. He doesn’t sound as tired in those songs lol.
