Far from being a fitting epitaph to a fine career, Humanoid is proof that the creative fire still burns. 45 years on from their debut album, Accept are refusing to retire quietly. And on this evidence, nor should they.
It’s better and more consistent than Too Mean to Die, with their bare-bones style polished and improved upon. The writing is tight and the band sounds young, dumb, and full of…rum.
German heavy metal stalwarts Accept return for another record and its pretty quality, definitely feels like they've done this many times before with more energy though.
Frankenstein has really nice guitar work and is structured well but they have many tracks like this. Man Up is definitely a true Accept track but suffers from the same identity problem. Accept's most recent album, Humanoid is... the same album they've been making for the last 15 years now. This review effectively writes itself - for what it's worth, it's competently written, performed, and produced, but there's little reason to pick out this album over all the others they've made. Blood of the Nations, Blind Rage - if you want to hear this sound, just listen to either of those two instead.
