After five years of sporadic recording and with a budget of less than $1,000, Have A Nice Life released one of the most creative and ambitious albums I've listened to, Deathconsciousness, a depressing lo-fi post-punk album that is regarded by many as one of the best albums of all time.
This album begins with an almost 8-minute song of a repeating guitar arpeggio backed by beautiful, thick pads and ethereal drones. For a ... read more
Lamp's For Lovers is an awesome jazz-pop and Shibuya-kei record. It's such a great listen; its eclectic 8 tracks are infused with jazz, funk, and pop in an infectious mini-album bursting with joy and love. The tracks utilize such a wide variety of instrumentation, melodies, and structures that listening to this never gets dull. They always pull something new from their seemingly infinitely deep bag. Lamp was a three-piece band, but their members played multiple instruments, and they ... read more
I'm gonna be honest, I could not tell these songs apart except for a few. And honestly, that's part of the appeal for me.
So the new Foo Fighters record I liked a fair bit, mainly due to its high energy and catchy melodies. The guitar amps sound great, nice and fuzzy. Dave Grohl's vocals, for the most part, are pretty strong, with decent singing and explosive shouting. The compositions are pretty well done, however generic, but with just a bit of edge and uniqueness that keep ... read more

Unplugged is my first venture into Alice in Chains, which is interesting, since it's a live acoustic set of their normal grunge and alternative metal music. While Layne Staley was intoxicated for a lot of the performance and had struggled with this performance because of his drug problems, he still managed to do it, with less power than normal, but with a weak, haunting beauty. He did mess up during the ... read more

Prince has been on my list for a long time. I have always wanted to listen to who many deem one of the greatest to ever do it. Initially unsure after hearing the first few songs one day, I was discouraged, but on second listen, this is most definitely the masterpiece it is made out to be. Sign O' the Times (as I will be referring to it, no peace emoji, sorry) is an R&B album in a distinctly Prince style that ... read more
HELP(2) is a gorgeous album full of diverse, artistic rock, pop, and folk music. The songs feature atmospheric instrumentals with lots of guitars and strings. The vocals are well-sung and written, and carry an important, powerful message. Too long for my taste, I started losing interest after Warning, but this doesn't take away the merits of the songs before and after. The cause and creation of this album is also very honorable, and I 100% support it.
