Great gym trap banger, and it was a great return to form single for Cole after ‘KOD’ that proved he’s still capable of making hits.
This mf won the rap album Grammy over Kanye, was the last male to win best new artist, and was the first Grammy win for digital-only album, then he dropped ‘The Big Day’…
Listened to this again after watching the Kanye Netflix documentary. One of the most life changing albums of all time. ‘Through the Wire’ is still to this day a top 10 song ever to me, no wonder Pharrell Williams was so stunned, his reaction was just walking out the door speechless.
I legit enjoyed 2/3rd’s of the first 9 tracks, so it was a decent start for the most part. Unfortunately, the quality takes an overall nosedive, with majority of the tracks just being really painfully mediocre or just flat-out bad, with the exception being ‘8am in Charlotte’.
Wow, thank you for recommending me your work, dude. This is lowkey a really solid LP / Mixtape debut from underground artist, Life 9. While not perfect and/or coherent as a whole, this is really refreshing for underground rap & the influences that come with it - as the majority don’t care about artistic merit, and simply think they’re gonna get big off TikTok by copy & pasting each other, becoming the next Carti or Uzi, *yawn*. Yh, this is his best project π₯. Just a collection of some really damn solid r&b & trap bangers, man.
Still can’t believe this is as brilliant as it is. The pilots pretty much fixed all of their mistakes from their previous work. It’s just a shame that most of their streaming hits are from ‘Blurryface’. Y’all just have bad taste.
Surprisingly not completely unbearable for what it is.
</c0de> is my personal standout π₯
Damn, they really locked tf in when they made ‘Trench’ π. This ain’t AS bad as some people say, but the quality between this & their follow-up release is night & day.
Gorillaz’ most daring work since ‘Plastic Beach’ & and undeniably has the highest emotional impact of their discography. Watching them live made me want to increase the score despite a few inconsistencies. A top 3 album from them nonetheless.
The greatest album of not just the hip-hop genre, or the 21st century, but possibly of all time? Along side Marvin Gaye’s ‘What’s Going On’ it’s so good it will never be “overrated”. This isn’t just a perfect music album, it’s one of the most daring, ambitious, and revolutionary pieces of art ever made. I have nothing to say about this thought-provoking masterpiece that hasn't already been said in-depth.
