The Cure - Wish

For the great lyrical quality, catchy melodies, and insane instrumentals (I LOVE THE GUITAR ON THIS ALBUM, ESPECIALLY ON OPEN), this feels like a severely underrated album from The Cure even with its relatively high score. This is my personal favorite of the ones I've listened to. Some of the songs are just genuinely so cool to listen to, and the tone can switch from pretty up-beat and poppy to beautifully dissonant or hauntingly discordant

3 of my favorite tracks by them off this EP
Stress Relief, Euphoria, and Nostalgic Love Rock are all really memorable songs, where the music all blends together while everything is still distinct. Really appreciate this style of shoegaze, where all the components are distinct but are just thick with distortion that blends it all together in a thematically discordant way.

If there's any reason I take points off this EP, it's because of some lyrical quality, and moments where the music ... read more

yes grunge, yes music, underrated, underlistened

late night drive home - How Are We Feeling?

the instrumentals are a really big stand out, whether that be from their more typical distorted shoegaze sound to their more experimental stuff into things like electronic in tracks like 2019.
despite not having, honestly, the best written lyrics, this album is pretty relatable, and it's kind of beautiful through and through. i really appreciate it, i really appreciate the singing and the passion that goes into it. the vocals are great, especially how layered they are. the melodies are ... read more

that being said, a solid album just does not justify shit

파란노을 [Parannoul] - After the Night

this album is legitimately perfect. every song is not only unique, with catchy choruses and beautifully composed instrumentals, but the psychedelic feel is even, if only coincidentally, boosted even further by the echo of live production. vocals are inspiring even if you dont know what the hell they're saying, and the soundscapes are easy to become lost in
this is some shit you listen to when absolutely blasted, and it'd go even harder.

i wont go too in depth since this is an album composed of ... read more

it's got energy, and in my opinion, is probably the easiest to get into given the composition of the songs

5. 8.1/10 - overstays its welcome but it's good

each song sounds like pyramid song spinning off the rails. it's cool in a cohesive sense but dawg some of those songs are just doing too much

"Also caffeine is hella bad for u so I'm just saying. I'm just not saying that caffeine is something necessarily worth defending since I don't personally drink energy drinks or anything like that."

"Also I'm exaggerating when I say that killing yourself is an option, obviously it isn't, I'm satirizing that, in fact. And nicemaxxing... just say you're an incel 😭. Yeah I'm sorry for saying you can live your life positively, trying to put out good instead of lazing around and arguing online lol. Contradictory I know, but I certainly haven't been at it for a year... maybe that's proof I'm fighting an uphill battle, I'm clearly not going to be as dedicated to this as you are. I'm just giving my 2 cents since I came across it, and you don't need to attack everyone who doesn't flatly agree with you, you're aiming for L A C K O F G R O W T H. Like why are you so angry lmao? You haven't met me, you don't know me, so why so aggressive?"

"@Myxogastrid JPEG? I mean I haven't updated my favorites in a while, and he's hella radical so I don't feel the need to listen to everything he says as something I should live by. I haven't even heard the song you're talking about, but it doesn't mean I can't listen to the rest of his discography. I appreciated the production not the lyrics, so...? And Kanye, I like his earlier stuff. I literally don't give a fuck about Vultures. And Travis is lowkey a piece of shit. Local files exist you know, you don't need to give them money if you don't want to. Though I can still appreciate some of their output, as bad actions in the present don't invalidate what they've put out in the past."

""I just want to emphasize that we can't live our lives without offending others" Not that we shouldn't try, but that we can't expect to never do so. Especially in art. I'm saying don't be so fixed with art because everyone's expression isn't focused around your hate. Even if it seems offensive, try to take something away from it besides anger. It's possible! "so you just ignore the parts you dont like lol? love separating the lyrics from the message, awesome way to appreciate art" Are you kidding me? It's a small component, and doesn't take away from the message? I'm not ignoring it's in there, I'm ignoring the weight it has on the message of the song because whether or not you agree with its use, it doesn't actually affect the message."

"The point about coffee might be a bad analogy, sure, it's something I came up with in the moment, but it's just one example that shows 1st world society thrives on abuse, which is something I'm personally against. At the same time, my point is that I wouldn't call someone who drank coffee on the same level as the companies which exploit for the production of it, since those little abuses are throughout all facets of life. Same with you, who uses a computer or phone or any sort of device which uses lithium in batteries, an industry also well known for their abuses. My point is, while we don't need to excuse the source, and can always look for improvements, you can't categorize people based on what they consume."
On Myxogastrid's review of Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
"And separate listeners from the artists means don't attack people for the media they enjoy or consume unless it's hateful at its core. I'm saying people as a WHOLE, whether or not you like the song or not (as I'm not trying to convince you to like it???), don't need to be connected to the negative parts of the media they consume. I say this because, maybe you've forgotten, but in earlier parts of the thread you did seem to be comparing fans of different artists to negatives. I'm trying to come at this carefully literally because you seem so aggressive in this entire thread lmao so relax I'm not here to tell you you're explicitly wrong or anything."
On Myxogastrid's review of Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
"@Myxogastrid good lord why are you so negative lmao. I'm not attacking you, and when I say "ignorance", willful ignorance is learning that not everything in life will agree with you, so you need to ignore those parts of the media you consume IF YOU DON'T AGREE WITH IT. Take away what you WANT TO, and sure, if I have a basic takeaway like you say, then that's even more proof that you can get something positive out the song. The takeaway that I was talking about is that Kendrick's use of the F-slur is showing that he as a person may still be ignorant due to the community he grew up in, which yes, the song is about how heritage has made communities ignorant to LGBTQ+, and he is part of that. My point is I don't think the song glorifies it."
On Myxogastrid's review of Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
"Sorry for all the yap, but I just want this to be clear: ignorance surrounds everyone around us, and others too. Nobody can know everything and attempting to compensate for everything we are, we might as well just off ourselves. Instead of that... we can attempt to output something greater than the negativity we put out into the world, and hope that people will take the positives we bring rather than the negatives we may bring, rather unintentionally ignorant or poorly executed ignorant. With this take in mind, whether or not you like Kendrick, do not hate on his fans, you don't know what kind of people they are and you can't attribute so much negativity to how people interpret art."
On Myxogastrid's review of Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
"I just want to emphasize that we can't live our lives without offending others, whether intentionally or unintentionally. But it does not mean that we should crucify ourselves or others for their ignorance, we can just hope that they'll move through life with the destructive tendencies of man and society and bring improvements that net positivity. Even if you do not agree with media, you shouldn't be so fixed with art. Not telling you how to live your life, but I think you'll come to find that you can take what you want from a piece, and leave without taking the parts you don't want or agree with. Just as we drink coffee to increase our output (whether or not you agree with caffeine use) while ignoring the horrific way coffee is sourced."
On Myxogastrid's review of Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
"Ignorance is not bigotry, even if it's willful. We can at least hope that people are taking the positive message from the album, the rest of the work or even Auntie Diaries, a song which preaches for love over religious conservatism, and in a way, the song does emphasize Kendrick's ignorance, but also that he's attempting to move past it into a mindset that is more tolerable and sensitive. This is my take away, and thus proof that people are capable of taking away positives from media that you may see as potentially harmful for certain aspects. The message of the song, and the rest of how it's executed is the most important part. We can both hope that listeners don't come away from it dropping F-bombs even if previously they didn't."
On Myxogastrid's review of Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
"@Myxogastrid I mean you can defend this point for as long as you want but reading it I think you should genuinely learn to separate at LEAST listeners from the artist. It's fine if you don't agree with the content of Auntie Diaries, that's fine. You mention you aren't speaking for your entire community, and it'd be pretty indefensible and delusional if you DID claim to speak for your entire community, but in a way, calling listeners and fans of Kendrick Nazis is making that exact claim, and grossly misrepresenting what it means to be a Nazi or bigot. In a way, using these words so fragrantly is doing more damage to your point and may be why so many people will disagree with you so harshly."
