Yeah, this is an album I'm gonna have to come back to and analyze in proper, but I couldn't go through this year without hearing this. One of the best hiphop albums of the decade for sure, and one of my favorite of the year.
I haven't posted a review on this website in a while, and though this might seem like an odd choice, I think it's worth writing something on this. Spoilers for Beginning of a New Era ahead, HIGHLY recommend watching that movie before reading.
I was introduced to Umamusume as an entire... series? Franchise? Whatever you wanna call it through Beginning of a New Era. That movie came at a point in my life where I really needed it the most, and it has quickly become my new favorite anime ... read more
I want to edit this review with a proper, full length review after I finish my "Above and Beyond Discography Deep Dive" series of reviews, however, I needed to get my initial thoughts of this album out. As an Above and Beyond fan for the past 15+ years of my life.
I cried multiple times throughout this listen. This has to be their best album since Sirens of the Sea with Oceanlab, a proper Group Therapy Part Two. There's so many unexpected moments yet stylistically familiar, at ... read more
I'm gonna keep this one real brief, at least by my standards.
Tyler the Creator dropped what I feel like is a punchy, short but still effective slow burn unpacking feelings of mistrust, struggling with both fame and public perception of Tyler, as well as interpersonal struggles with Tyler's relationships. This feels like a pretty logical sequel to a lot of themes on albums like Chromakopia and Igor, with quite a few other moments off his other albums.
"Don't Tap The ... read more
Obligatory "Inflo should have just paid up, ffs".
I will finish this review later as I'm currently listening to this album at 2am as this is my most anticipated album of 2025. I'm completely blown away at the total left turn direction Little Simz has taken. The way I girl screamed seeing this album get fully uploaded is something of a personal core memory now.
I absolutely adore Lotus. This is an album we needed in the 2025 era. As much as I adore Sometimes I Might Be ... read more
Easily one of my favorite songs of the year. The hype is entirely justified.
This is one of the most surprising listens of the year so far for me. As someone who grew up familiar with Miley's popular hits, of which I had to grow from being a performatively hateful "cis boy" to the woman I am today who has in hindsight grown to appreciate Miley's art? I am FLOORED by the quality of this album on so many levels. Something Beautiful earns its title.
I will edit this review with a full breakdown of my thoughts on every track (as I usually do with ... read more
This is one of the funniest songs ever made. Denzel's verse is perfection, Dave Bailey's vocals are so goofy and the lyrics are absolutely stupid. I fucking love this song so much. This song pisses my best friend off and has become an inside joke so powerful in my friend group, that this song is literally banned on a discord server we share.
I'm back on my bullshit like Jordan on Pippen. 10/10 this collab is perfect. After TA13OO and How To Be A Human Being, both Glass Animals ... read more
I am sleep deprived running off of like 3 hours of sleep. This is one of the funniest fucking songs I've ever heard, I'm not sure if it's autotuned frantic vocals that aren't even in the right key for the piano melody against it, or the FL Studio default snare drum that constantly plays through this, but this is truly entertainingly bad.
Temporarily keeping my review mostly empty for a while. Editing down my review of this album.
I do not enjoy this album but I want to make it focused more specifically on the music and story here. Will update this with a revised review.
Without a doubt one of my favorite albums ever. This is one of the most underrated indie and pop punk rock albums of the 2010s. As a fan of The Maine, I truly think this is one of the best in their discography and stands out in the 2010s, ESPECIALLY the late 2010s for being musically consistent and yet it's still aged so well.
I think the first couple of songs fall into conventional heterosexual romance territory for The Maine, and yet, this immediately shifts into some pretty artsy and ... read more
Ah, an absolute classic in the Trance music genre. This is one of the greatest remixes that Tiësto has ever made. I only enjoy the Above and Beyond remix of Silence *slightly* more than this, but this song has such a nostalgia factor for me I cannot help but give this a perfect score.
Sarah McLachlan's vocals translate perfectly into this style and genre, it's of no surprise that Silence was going to be remixed by many trance musicians. This song just rips. I don't have ... read more
An actual LGBTQ landmark album. A must hear for LGBTQ people, and a haunting listen that left me in stunned silence.
Placebo is one of the most consistent bands I've heard, throughout their albums they continue to impress me with how solid their sound is instrumentally, but the true star of the show is Brian Molko's lyrics and the subject matter he tackles.
Whether it be homophobia, alcoholism, drug addiction, depression, or grief? Placebo's debut self titled album really set ... read more
EDIT: 1/100 -> 20/100. I was far too harsh on this album and honestly, the self awareness of Rivers Cuomo saves this from being completely unlistenable. I still don't like Pinkerton, but WOW was I unaware of how badly overrated some other music can get. A lot of my read on this still stands but I don't hate Weezer, if anything I'm coming out of this a fan.
MASSIVE CONTENT WARNING FOR MATURE THEMES AND DISCUSSIONS OF GROOMING. This is quite possibly the worst Weezer album ... read more
Vylet Pony comes out with even more hauntingly beautiful music. I'm so excited for the new album.
This album is Unrankable. Truly. Trans women do it the best. I have absolutely no fucking words. All I can say is, this and Monarch of Monsters are sister albums in more ways than not. Tackling many of the same issues while doing it through two completely different avenues musically. Where Monarch of Monsters goes all out, with no subtlety or room for ignoring its overarching themes, A Lonely Sinner best utilizes "Less Is More" while letting the instrumentals hard carry what few ... read more
GOODBYE VOLCANO HIGH SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT:
This is my absolute favorite video game soundtrack of all time, and it is truly a shame what happened to Goodbye Volcano High as an entire game and piece of media in terms of being swept under the rug. This OST album is so intertwined with the story and themes of Goodbye Volcano High, it is one of my favorite executions of giving a video game soundtracks a proper emotional punch that truly helped me in a serious point of my life. As a nonbinary trans ... read more
This song is absolutely fantastic, and relistening to it again in context with all of Tri-State reminds me why this is one of my favorite bands of all time. Above & Beyond have some of the most compelling, if still very accessible, production and songwriting in the trance music world, and this song is no exception.
Can't Sleep is a song I've had much to say about within my review of Tri-State, but I need to come back here and give flowers even more properly. Whether it be the ... read more
An incredible collection of remixes, to an already absolutely peak album. This is when trance music had some of the best production, best talent coming together to adapt some of the best trance songs ever made to a series of absolute banging danceable remixes. I don't have much more thoughts on this that I won't already be expressing on my review of Sirens of the Sea's core material itself, but some of my favorite remixes on this record have to be;
- Ashes (Oliver Smith Remix)
