Someone recommended it to me, but I'm sorry; it's like brutal death metal, but of poor quality. ITS BOOOOOORING and it has all the problems I already mentioned about black metal.
I love the guitar tone on this album—it’s raw but incredibly powerful. Not only does it have one of the best intros I’ve ever heard on any metal album, but “At Dawn to Sleep” is also one of Slayer’s best songs.
However, it’s an incredibly repetitive album, and it loses steam considerably toward the end, but it’s still very good.
The truth is, I got off to a pretty rough start with Bathory because of their questionable debut—it was a very repetitive album, lacking any real power, and it really only served as an influential record. However, this album solves all those problems in an incredible way; it’s still raw, but it has incredible power, riffs, and rhythms, and that last song... one of the best songs I’ve ever heard in all of fucking metal—it’s a masterpiece.

I didn't expect it to be this good; it really captures how memorable Deftones' style was without resorting to being a blatant copy, which makes for a truly memorable, really good album
This is a really important album that paved the way for new sounds in death metal. I love the atmosphere of this album; I just think it’s a little repetitive, but the brutality and the riffs more than make up for it—it’s truly memorable.
