Metro Boomin - HEROES & VILLAINS
80

Metro really did outdo himself with this one. Heroes and Villains is one of the best trap albums of the last year, if not the best.

What I love the most out of everything in this album is the sequencing. Every song, every beat and every feature is perfectly arranged. Metro really created a cinematic experience with this one. Love the multiple contributions by some great trap artists like Future or Travis Scott. Don toliver over metro boomin's beats are an amazing combination too. Makes Don's ... read more

MALNEEZY & Souza - Play It Like You Stole It
73

Really solid track. From the start to the end. The guitar solo, the lyrical content, the flow, the instrumental... Everything works really good. Also, I feel like this type of sound fit more your use of the reverb. Would love if you kept exploring this kind of sounds.
And can't forget about that cover art, it's amazing.

Souza, Aplete & Red Grooves - Hand In Hand
70

Love the instrumental. Strings and percussion go crazy. The switch up of the tempo is amazing and your flows fit the vibe well.
Overall a very good song. Keep it going my brotha!

Boldy James & Real Bad Man - ADU
75

Had big expectations coming to this project, since it was only released on vinyl, but the truth is that there's so much wasted potential. Boldy's flows over Sade samples should sound amazing. But it doesn't. And it's not Boldy's fault, some beats are a bit lazy and monotone. Some drums are really terrible. I'm not really feeling Real Bad Man's sample choices. Loops don't really get your attention. Boldy's bars are as good as usual, but it's far from being one of his best releases. There are a ... read more

Nas - King's Disease III
88

Most rappers run out of things to rap about in a decade or two, but Nas always finds the secret recipe to revitalize his sound. It's crazy how he adapts to changing times. Nas & Hit-Boy is a duo I never get tired of listening. They could keep going for another trilogy or even more and I probably would listen to every single record. Nas' rapping and flows mesh perfectly with Hit-Boy's production choices. And the final product is always worth listening.

KD3 might be the best installment of ... read more

A Tribe Called Quest - We got it from Here... Thank You 4 Your service
93

After 3 months I'm back!! and I'm returning with one of the best rap albums of the past 10 years. A true classic. A tribe called quest never missed, and this one might be my favorite release of theirs. It's as jazzy, soulful and smooth as their older projects but it sounds more fresh. No other rap group has achieved to give the feeling A Tribe does. Q-Tip, Jarobi and Phife Dawg are geniuses. Q-Tip kills the production on every single track., every sample loop is amazing. There isn't a single ... read more

The Roots - How I Got Over
85

The roots have always been one of my favorite hip-hop groups of all time. They've been so consistent since 1995 and they're dropping a project soon too. How I Got Over is an amazing project.

Black Thought's lyrical performances throughout this project are amazing, especially his verse in Walk Alone. Love his singing in the title track and his flows on Doin' It Again are killer. The Blu features on Radio Daze and The Day are legendary collabs.

The only song I didn't like in this album is Web ... read more

Joey Bada$$ - 1999
89

This is my favorite hip hop mixtape from the last decade, a true masterpiece by a 17 year old Joey Bada$$.1999 obviously is a very 90s hip-hop reminiscing project and it manages to encapsulate that 90s aura without effort. It's amazing how he pulled this off at only 17. Could never do something half this good at my age lol.

1999 is probably the best project Joey Bada$$ will ever make. There's something about the hunger for greatness of a 17 year old that can't be replaced by no other feeling. ... read more

R.A.P. Ferreira - 5 To The Eye With Stars
73

I’ve never heard a R.A.P. Ferreira project before. Been sitting on Purple Moonlight Pages for months now but still haven’t checked it out, so I went to this project with no expectations whatsoever. That said, I gotta say that this project took a couple of listen to truly appreciate it, because on the first one, I thought that this was just a mid jazz-rap album, but it is more than just that.

Wasn’t a big fan of the production in some of the tracks like “Ours” but ... read more

Boldy James & Futurewave - Mr. Ten08
87

Boldy James has been on a run for a while now. In his latest project, the Detroit Mc joins the legendary producer from Toronto Futurewave to make a collab album as he has already done with other legendary producers such as Alchemist, Real Bad Man, Sterling Toles and ultimately Nicholas Craven, and the outcome is as great as expected. We got another rap AOTY contender.

When I reviewed Fair Exchange No Robbery, I already said that Boldy was one of the most consistent rappers EVER and he keeps ... read more

Drake & 21 Savage - Her Loss
64

After two very poor albums, didn’t expect a lot from Drake on this project. 21 savage is a whole different thing though, always expect him to deliver some great performances on his songs and features so this shouldn’t be any less.

I gotta say that Her Loss is a decent trap album. Nothing outstanding but a good project by both Drake and 21. Gotta respect Drake’s hunger for more success, the man could retire today if he wanted, but the amount of music he put out this year alone ... read more

A$AP Rocky - LONG.LIVE.A$AP
83

Long.Live.a$ap used to be my favorite A$ap Rocky project. It's an amazing album and the deluxe version is even better, but I'll be reviewing the original version.

The production in this album is what stands out to me. Don't get me wrong, A$ap has always been a great rapper and lyricist, but his beat choices in this album are greater than his raps. Starting from Long Live A$ap, the contrast from the dirty and hard production on the verses make an amazing contrast with the angelic vocals on the ... read more

Denzel Curry - Imperial
86

Not my favorite Denzel Curry album but still one of his best projects. Btw, don't know what happened to the song "Narcotics", but in Spotify it's been replaced with "Me Now", "Pure Enough" seems to have disappeared too and it's been replaced with "Good Night" so I'll be reviewing that one.

Imperial is one of the best, if not the best, albums of the whole trap soundcloud era. It's really consistent, well produced, short and full of memorable performances ... read more

Spillage Village - Spilligion
78

Spillage Village is a rap collective originally created by JID and Earthgang and this is their latest release. Other well-known artists like Mereba and 6lack are also part of the collective and featured multiple times in this project.

Spilligion is an album about God's role in the black comunity, so evidently, there are multiple religious and biblical references to the record. Honestly, I think that there's a lot of wasted potential in this album. Neither JID nor Eartgang have many memorable ... read more

Stove God Cook$ & Roc Marciano - Reasonable Drought
84

Reasonable Drought is Stove God Cooks debut album and it's fully produced by the underground legend Roc Marciano. I feel like Roc Marci always gets his flowers as a Mc but he's kinda underrated as a producer. The instrumentals in this project are astonishing. Love every sample used in this album, especially the vocals in "Crosses". Some of the beats in here are drumless, and I feel like that asmosphere fits really well Stove's flows.

Stove God Cooks' lyricial ability has always been ... read more

Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030
91

The stroytelling and the atmosphere of this album is one of the most unique i've ever heard. One of the best concept rap albums ever too. If you are into sci-fi you'll love this one.

Deltron 3030 is a dystopian story that takes place in the year 3030, where free thought and hip-hop is outlawed and Del (one of Deltron 3030 members) raps in his alter ego as Deltron Zero, a former cybermech soldier reclaiming the legacy of hip-hop through some intergalactic rap battles.

Favorite songs: 3030, ... read more

MF DOOM - MM..FOOD
94

RIP MF DOOM.

I had to do this one on the 2nd anniversary of the passing of the illest villain.

MM...FOOD is one of the most iconic records of all time. A true classic and a near flawless project. Not only the bars are at an all time level, the production is on par with the lyricism. DOOM wasn't only one of the best Mcs to ever live but also one of the best producers in my opinion. His sample chopping is one of the best i've ever heard. It's crazy but I think that the first 6 track run are ... read more

The Pharcyde - Labcabincalifornia
92

The Pharcyde is one of the most underrated rap groups of all time. Everyone would say that Wu-Tang, A Tribe, N.W.A., Public Enemy, Run D.M.C., The Roots are some of the best rap groups ever, and most of them often forget about The Pharcyde. While they are not as influential as some of those names, their music quality speak for itself. I mean, in this project they rap over 7 J Dilla beats, and they kill all of them.

Labcabincalifornia isn't even their best body of work, and still, this is a ... read more

Mick Jenkins - The Water[s]
84

The Water[s] is one of the coolest concept albums of the last decade. It's really cohesive and consistent. No track stands out at all but every single one serve their respective purpose. Love all the jazz bits in this mixtape. There's some trap and cloud rap elements in this project too. Wish there were more albums as conceptually rich as this one.

Favorite songs: Shipwrecked, The Waters, Jazz, Martyrs, Jerome.

38 Spesh - Stabbed & Shot
78

This cover art is way worse than the one that shows on spotify and apple music.

The beats on here are cold. Chemistry between Benny and Spesh is good too but they kinda get carried by production in some tracks. It's a good album but far from Benny's best.

Favorite tracks: Intro, Paper Trail, So Strategic, My River.
