the line up is STACKED and the performances are great. A really touching tribute from some of the best 5th wave emo has to offer
While I have my reservations with the vocals and I do wish they leaned a little more into the noisier capabilities of post rock I found this album to be undeniably pretty and infectious with some incredible standouts like Call it Easy which makes a strong case for Song of the year :)
I mean… I can understand its importance and the influence it would have later down the track is obvious but sometimes the original is just not as great as what it helped create. It’s not unlistenable, (although some songs like I bleed may suggest otherwise) but it really doesn’t make me feel much at all. The riffs are just kinda there and the jumping from surf rock to punk to indie rock etc just doesn’t work in its favour. What does work in its favour is the energy ... read more
The weakest of the three main Parannoul albums. After the magic has some great highlights and is moooostly consistent at least for the first 7 or so tracks but ironically it doesn’t capture that same magic of sky hundred and to see the next part of the dream. Still a great experience but a bit of a let down after coming off of those two projects
Very little wrong with Cynthoni’s input here the beats are ethereal, calming and fast but melody’s vocals are just not working with me. Nothing against her but I’m struggling to get much out of this knowing that I would’ve had a better experience listening to the instrumentals alone
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
This album suffers from its pacing and lack of diversity in the tracklist but holds its own through the sheer quality of the reccuring ideas. Its atmosphere is undeniable and her voice is so pretty
For 22 minutes of completely free and improvised post-rock it’s staggeringly impressive but I can’t help but miss the vocalisations of lead singer Harry Wilkinson. Regardless this EP is great and feels like a dark shadow looming over your shoulder, an inexplicable presence that is always persistent and will not stop following you.
This album has the bands best moments, best riffs and greatest highlights, but suffers just slightly from a few meandering tracks like 'Night People' which take away more than they add. Canary Yellow is fucking phenomenal.
J Dilla's final effort before his passing in 2006 is a strong collection of 31 diverse and engaging instrumentals that speak for themselves enough to not warrant the presence of an MC. They're fun, lo-fi, relaxing and ultimately a gift from a dying man to the world.
With that being said, I found myself falling in love with only 1 in every 3 or so tracks, which- is fine. The highlights are truly fantastic but when accounting for the record as a wholistic experience, I find myself not ... read more
Not much to differentiate track to track but just an awesome soundscape from front to back
And with that 10+ years of world building and scrutinise blood, sweat and tears comes to a close. Well done twenty øne pilots!
Nirvana's third and final effort before the untimely passing of singer and Guitarist Kurt Cobain was fuelled by a disdain for, well everything. Cobain details a wide range of emotions and thoughts across this album sometimes coming across as an incoherent rambling and other times proving thought provoking and profound. The former is most prevalent on songs like Milk It and Very Ape which translate this often gross imagery into something you can appreciate based purely on the energy alone. ... read more
