Zeppelin's 4th self titled record comes at a point in the band's career where the experimentation and refinery of the sound they'd pioneered in the last 60s was coming to an apex, carving out their own legacy and establishing themselves as one of the most successful boundary pushers in just a short 3 years. Songs like Black Dog, When the Levee Breaks and the on the nose Rock and Roll showcase the effective brand of hard-rock that brought them to the forefront but I find that the ... read more
Hendrix's magnum opus runs a daring 75 minutes and yet manages to stick the landing gracefully with a fantastically paced 16 song track list. Electric Ladyland is excellent, his best guitar work, his best song writing, his biggest hit (and best song) and his most daring, lengthy explorations all land on this record.
My main issue with this album outside of the 60s mixing which I won't hold against it, is that a fair amount of the songs simply aren't all that memorable. Songs ... read more
This is my first exposure to Blood Orange and uh... his voice kinda sucks? Idk something about it doesn't sit right with me but at least the instrumentation was for the most part really pleasant, I especially loved the inclusion of saxophone on a lot of the songs here but I was pretty bored during this :/
By far his best album, just great verses over great and diverse beats. Amazing
The mix was very weird but other than that it was just a pretty cool 15 minutes with Ghais
I actually enjoyed short n’ sweet a lot and was HOPING for something that would be at least some what decent to follow up what was mostly a really good pop album and she fucking fell flat on her face here. What are we doing??? Somehow manchild ended up being the best song by a country mile despite being worse than nearly every song on short n’ sweet. This album just felt like a way of cashing in on the momentum and nothing more. Go and listen to Haley Williams instead!!!
The beats are great but the vocals are very amateur . Which is fine! They’re a young artist and they can definitely improve a bunch
Some highlights but this thing really is just too long for its own good unfortunately :( But as I said there really are some great moments that make listening to it worth while.
This shit is so joyous and innocent and whimsical and happy and maybe everything is sunshine and rainbows
This is so fucking good. It's got the flavours of all my favourite hyperpop and indietronica acts up till this point like 1000 gecs, frailty etc. It's so fun
Some of the lyrics on this album are bad, but like funny bad so they get a pass. I LOVE the Thrash flavour on this album that makes it stand out among there discography too, overall not mind blowing but just great all around
Great highlights but not that consistent tbh :/ I expected to like this more but you know what can you do π€·
Weaponised Dysphoria is the coolest title I’ve ever seen. Uboa you’re wonderful
HOW THE FUCK DID THAT HAPPEN!?????? These guys are pushing 60 and just released a top 3 album in their discography im speechless
