Vince Staples has been an artist that has consistently impressed and disappointed me time and time again. He’s always been a superb visionary with a lot to say and a very unique voice that has grown on me, but his albums often seemed cluttered. Him dropping such an “experimental” (as some say) album to follow up the fairly mixed bag of RAMONA PARK was very intriguing to me. I usually don’t like to do track-by-track reviews but I was just really curious to dissect this ... read more
These guys are famous (or more so infamous) for their image and censorship in Greek media which has really inflated them as some great band which they are not. Some of their earlier stuff used gothic, viking black metal elements very well but as of now it just sounds so stale and derivative. This thing was more laughable than it needed to be.

Their worst project yet, by a bit of a margin. It’s at this point the formula starts to get overdone. While there are songs that switch up the hard rock feel, it’s just… really tired. And oh boy are we just getting started. Because AC/DC has always been pop, but they’re getting increasingly commercial. This is very much a slog of an album ... read more
Going into this, I knew none of the Sewerslvt stuff except that they’re a notoriously bad person. At least no love is lost after listening to this thing because this is really mediocre drum and bass with little to no value or quality of artistic merit! And God the middle of this thing sucks. When it’s atmospheric it’s bland and when it’s dance-like it’s genuinely awful.

This was the first album of the Brian Johnson era, so the first album of the AC/DC that we all know and love/hate. And yeah wow they really kick off that generic AC/DC sound real quick goddamn. Unlike with the previous albums, which had classics even if the albums themselves weren’t fantastic, this one just has the occasional banger or two or an actual really good ... read more

I predicted that this would be my favorite AC/DC album. For the most part, it was because I knew I already did not like Back in Black, and another reason is because I did very much like the Bon Scott era more than the Brian Johnson era. While Brian Johnson seems like a very good dude, he was not really a Bon Scott. Listening to this thing however, did let me down ever so slightly. ... read more
The album has a nice little run by the end but it doesn’t negate the fact that on its own this is a really brutal and sluggish release from the otherwise intensely overrated Pet Shop Boys. While there was always this dystopian pop charm to their 80s works, I really was never in love with this band. This album shows how this band’s career revival failed. The production sounds so cloudy and is so terrible, and the lyricism is flat out embarrassing.
I had never heard this band before and while it is fairly pretentious (if this is what the Chicago music press thought of Joan of Arc in the 90s I now understand), they clearly have the quality and artistic vision to back it up. It sounds like nothing I’ve ever really heard prior. Very inventive even with some skips relatively speaking.
I don’t know if it’s a hot take but genuinely I don’t really love this. It’s pretty good. The instrumentation is very solid and the saxophone is a pretty nice vehicle for a moody, haunting atmosphere. I have just never been able to get into this band dude. The guy’s voice just sounds so goofy and is not to my liking. This sound has just been done too. I respect the art being made here but it’s not my favorite that’s for sure.
The debut album from a band I’ve liked for a while, Chanel Beads, is very underrated. I’ve been following this band since “Ef” played on Blonded radio. It was a very interesting song. It was very R&B but something was clearly off about it. Hypnotic alternative R&B is basically the best way to describe it; I can only really describe the sound as just taking too much acid. While this thing is genuinely very messy, with a slump of a middle, the front and last legs ... read more
This album has no right to be so mid with HOW GOOD Wreckage is. Probably one of the greatest songs I’ve heard all year. I’ve never been a huge Pearl Jam fan. My dad was heavy on them because he was a kid during their heyday, and he loved this album. In contrast, I never loved them. They were my least favorite out of the big 4 of Grunge (Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam), but I didn’t… hate them for sure. This album has gotten critical acclaim though ... read more
Plagued by a pretty one dimensional sound (God the drum programming on this thing gets so stale and recycled by the end of the album), it’s still a very good assortment of well written and well produced drum and bass with nice alternative r&b elements thrown in there.

This is where the concerns for me officially start. While the band was off to a rather rough start, they would figure out their identity starting with Dirty Deeds. Their peak would pretty much be until Back in Black, to which point, they regressed to the band we all know and hate today. Restarting this series, I forgot how solid this band was from Dirty Deeds to (from what I remember) Back in ... read more
I hope this is not what Maggie Rogers settles on. I haven’t given up on what is one the folk artists with the highest ceiling, but it does seem like she’s throwing it away and wasting her potential more and more every release. I remember hearing Blood Ballet years ago and having an insane experience. If her work remained more consistent and stripped back, she could be one of the best in the folk scene today. Instead, she rips away everything that made her special to default on ... read more
This album is genuinely insane. Sometimes it can get lost in its own intensity but this is a really intense listen. These guys sounded like they got 15 parking tickets and went right into the studio. They sound like their team just gave up a walk off home run. It sounds sooooo angry bro
This band just grew off me so bad dude. A weak note to end off on. Unrelated side note but the drummer is such a prick and was just a douche when I met him 👎
The very aggressive yet chill sample was a fantastic addition to the song. I do think the second half of the song might lose some momentum, but overall the entire thing was fantastic and I am so excited for Kanye to comeback. I shit on him a lot but at the end of the day the man has made such an impact on my life and he will always be my favorite and my GOAT no matter what.

If I didn’t know about the rest of this band, this is the album where I would throw my white flag and hands up. This is a good album. Not even just a good album, but a great one. If I didn’t know what was gonna come up in the Brian Johnson “pop rock” era AC/DC, this album would almost entirely convince me to like this band. This is such a good album. It has such good standouts and ... read more
