BROCKHAMPTON - SATURATION III

BH's third and final installment of the groundbreaking Saturation trilogy, they bring even crazier production and flows to our ears. The album starts off HOT as BOOGIE is energetic and wild as I have ever heard them on a track. A saxophone (i think?) rides the beat as you are hearing sounds left and right. Even though it isn't as lyrical as their past 2 intros, its energy is the riding force. ZIPPER follows as Joba starts it off with his wacky wordplay and flow as he rides the beat so well. The ... read more

I liked Saturation I a lot, but the more I listen to this, the more I realize it is definitely a more improved and consistent BH project. It starts off very strong with GUMMY and QUEER, which both have great bars and awesome production. QUEER's hook and chill beat that follows is definitely a high point of this project and shows how versatile and fresh BH's production can get. As I listen to all 3 of their projects, their flows fit their beats so well as they are breaking new ground that is way ... read more

BROCKHAMPTON - SATURATION

I heard of kevin abstract before, saw the name brockhampton around twitter here and there, but had no idea what it was. After hearing it was like over ten dudes in a group, I was intrigued. I hear Star and Heat and was blown away by Star, while Heat was rough but way different. The album gets praise from Fantano and some online blogs, so I check it out.

The album starts off strong as it has a long run of great songs. Gold and Star are both top 10 BH songs ever, and Boys is a fun collaborative ... read more

Drake - Fake Love

Weak single, wants to be another hotline bling so bad. Does not deserve the numbers and streams it got.

Drake - Passionfruit

He *almost* ruined it about a minute in with the dude saying "fuuuck that," it is so cringy. Other than that, it is so smooth and he goes so well on this type of production. Love how the beat just runs at the end too without vocals.

Drake - 4PM in Calabasas

Fun flow and wordplay, beat could be a little better as it doesn't stack up to the others in this series. It would have been best or second best song on Views tbh.

Drake - More Life
76

Drake marketed this to be kinda Views leftovers, but with a Cruel Summer vibe with OVO artists all over. And, that's not really what we got tbh. I wanted some Majid Jordan, Wednesday Night Interlude type PND, and maybe some DVSN. We ended up getting all star features, which I was fine with. Idk why he used this album to give Giggs and Jorja Smith a cosign tho. What even is October Firm yo. Anyway, this is very long like Views, and could have dropped around 7 tracks to make an album in the mid ... read more

I will definitely remember the hype all around social media tor this album coming out. The MSG "fashion show," the long wait from Wolves in his Feb. fashion show to Fade in the fall one to the album in Feb. 2016 made fans wait forever just to get some new Ye. All we had for like 2.75 years was All Day, Only One, non-CDQ Wolves and Fade. Also the wild, confusing SNL performance the night it dropped, scrambling to get Tidal, more waiting, ugh. Once we got it, though, I thought it was ... read more

The Weeknd - Starboy

The more I listened to this, the more I liked it, except for the 6-7 tracks that I don't ever see growing on me. From more R&B than pop on his previous album, Starboy is pretty much pop all over, with R&B elements here and there. His lyrics and hooks have gone "commercial," as some people call it, but he makes it work and sound good, which is all that matters to me. Although I do kinda miss him constantly talking about wild nights and drugs like on Trilogy. Honestly, if he ... read more

I did not get it the first time. But who did? Don't lie, this caught you almost as much caught off guard than Yeezus. From the strange interludes and short tracks to the minimal electronic production from Channel Orange, you accept it for its craftsmanship and like it more and more after the first listen. Some of his most personal lyrics and beautiful production to date made this definitely worth the wait.
Highlights are: Ivy, Self Control, Siegfried, Nights, Pink + White.

Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels 3

Their best album to date, consistently crazy production (like always) but with more bite. El-P shows up stronger than ever as he changes his flows to fit his beats perfectly, and Killer Mike raps about numerous topics such as political and social issues going on these days. Highlights for me are: Talk to Me, Legend Has It, and Panther Like a Panther.
