The Colour and the Shape is deservedly one of the most iconic alt rock albums of the 90s. This record is kind of the box of chocolates of rock albums. It has some screechy metal esc tracks, fun acoustic tracks, and of course, some of the best rock anthems of the 90s. Everlong is easily in my top 10 songs of all time, and there are so many other great tracks worth listening to here that are similar. Some of the heavier songs on this album aren't really my cup of tea and drop the rating slightly ... read more
Pacific Daydream can really be summed up in one word: Boring. Nothing about this record is offensive, most of it is just generic pop music I never need to listen to again. I do think it's a little overhated, but I wouldn't call it good.

Now this is the Phoenix I was looking for!
While the first three albums before Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix had highlights, none of them could even light a candle to their best. But Bankrupt is the closest they've come so far, as the highlights here are consistently really good. It's still pretty far off, but the best tracks off of this album are honestly some of Phoenix's best. I had a fun time with this one.

This is the consistency I like to see from Weezer, all of these songs are feel good and enjoyable, however I don't love this one as much as it seems most Weezer fans do. It's still a great album though, some great summer vibes here and some of their best work is on this record. The highs are really high, but the lows are a little disappointing to me as a whole. Still really good, the mid 2010s were a great time for Weezer.

Honestly enjoying this quite a bit, a very nice rock sound that sounds like that classic Foo Fighters song.
Early 2010s was a great time for Weezer! This album is great, kind of like a modernized version of Maladroit with more pop influence, which sounds really good and is executed very well. Also can't go wrong with that album cover. An underrated hidden gem in the Weezer discog.

This is one of the very rare times where I cannot physically find anything wrong with an album, maybe besides the song titles than can make even Fall Out Boy jealous. This is an incredible experience and a fantastic album I wish I knew about sooner.
Paramore over the past couple of years of me being introduced to them has become one of my favorite bands of all time. I grew up listening to Misery Business (thanks to Guitar Hero) and thought it was a fine song, but I never really cared to look at the rest of their music. That was until recently when they dropped their most recent album at the time of this review, This is Why, which made me want to delve deeper into their discography. When I first listened to Brand New Eyes I thought it was a ... read more
Wasn't expecting much, but Weezer did a decent job with this one! Hurley is really what Raditude should have been, mixing the somewhat corny lyrics and pop rock sound in a way that wasn't absolutely horrible. It's nothing spectacular, but it has a few standout tracks. Solid album from Weezer after the past three were anything but that.

Justice's first album is very consistent in a great way, with the transitions being so good that I actually had to look to see if I was on the next song or not multiple times. The tracks themselves are also great, giving a more heavy side to the average song in the genre. It might be a little heavy for me, but I still enjoyed the majority of it. All in all a great batch of electro tracks that I'm happy I listened to.

After the first two songs I thought this album would be kinda funny in a "so bad it's good" kind of way, but after those two everything goes off the rails into insufferable territory. These lyrics are pretty horrible and most of it is just way too obnoxious in a very bad way. First song kinda good though

It's Never Been Like That is definitely an improvement from Phoenix's first two albums. This is the one where they come to life, where in their other stuff so far they sounded kind of lifeless. Everything here is consistently good and very fun. I'm not in love with it, but I think it's a great 2000s indie pop record that's worth your time.

Weezer at their best is very consistent, but Red is anything but that. If you told me half of these songs weren't Weezer before I listened to them I would probably believe you because some of these sound super strange to me, and it works sometimes and other times it doesn't. There are some solid tracks in the beginning but after that it kinda falls off the rails to mid/bad territory. I think there is some actually really good Weezer material here, but most of it isn't worth coming back ... read more
Pinkerton is an interesting album to say the least. Weezer is close to their peak performance wise with this album, every song sounds really good. Topics? Definitely questionable at some points but hey most of these songs go crazy so it's ok. I do like the Blue Album a considerable amount more as of now, but for the most part a good Weezer jam.
Everything Harmony is a pretty peaceful folk throwback album. The harmonies on this record are definitely what stand out, they're very nice. This album starts off strong and ends really strong, but everything in the middle kind of falls off. Not bad but I didn't love it.

Blind Melon has always been one of my favorite bands. The nostalgia I get from them is crazy, as me and my dad would always love listening to them. I realized that I hadn't given this album a full listen yet, and I honestly expected there to be some skips on here, but I was surprised to find every single song to be fantastic. This is some of the finest 90s rock out there, and ironically it's the perfect album to jam out to on a rainy afternoon with nothing to do. It's hard to describe the vibe ... read more
A pretty good indie pop album. That's pretty much all there is to it. Nothing here is remarkable or anything, but nothing here is bad either. A consistent enjoyable listen that I had fun with.

I was impressed with this album, it was very peaceful and is a good one to kind of zone out to on something like a long drive. I think the middle falls off a little, but the beginning and end are spectacular, with the shoegaze song at the end wrapping it up perfectly. A good time for sure.

Alphabetical takes a different approach in sound from Phoenix's debut United, and it's better and worse in different ways. They put a little more of a R&B and soulful tone on this album, which I quite like, however the band sounds much less enthusiastic and almost drained of energy in this album. That is the main characteristic holding this one back for me, but it's still a solid record.
