First half is standard genre-fare, second half is timeless
Wasn't sure about it at the start but goes from strength to strength as the album progresses
quickly lost all coherence and purpose, and then became an exercise in all the sounds Swans would later dabble with on albums much more thoughtfully put together
One mark taken off for the pointless instrumental section in moonchild. Though it never got on my nerves or bored me, it was entirely unnecessary and added nothing to the album
A few great songs, mostly okay to poor songs, but the main question is why is the recording quality on this so bad and inconsistent?
Starts strong with some beautiful orchestration engulfing the usual Sigur Ros soothing instrumentals, but as with so many Sigur Ros albums, it's beauty and calmness ultimately end up working against it, as I struggled to stay focused on the album track to track on the back end. Beautiful but not very memorable
What started as a record far before it's time evolved into just another 00s IDM album in the second half, albeit quite a good one
Lacking in direction and focus, and far from their cleanest and most appealing work. Very few highlights on such a short record
The lush instrumentation elevated this beyond a ballad filled slog, but the last two songs really let the album down
Some really fun and imaginative beats but the songwriting and lyricism is very awkward at times throughout
Drops off ever so briefly and slightly towards the end, but overall a masterclass in matching unique catchy experimental beats to effortless flow and great lyrics
A few significant highlights but mostly below average singer-songwriter fare
Anxiety inducing in the best way, but the quality and intensity doesn't remain consistent throughout
