first time listening to this. I really enjoyed it, especially the ones that felt more like groovy nuggets, and the variety of lead vocals helps keep it fresh through the run time. obviously harmonies are always on point.

goddamn this album remains incredible -- practically perfect.
the opening three tracks are some of the greatest musical moments of the century (on either side of the millennium), then the rest of the album continues to wind down or plough through curvy, anxiety-ridden paths.

I was familiar with "Gimme Shelter" and "You Can't Always Get What You Want" -- beyond that there wasn't much else on here that I thought was all that great. "Midnight Rambler" is fun and has its moments of trickery that grabbed my attention.

considering the thing I have heard most frequently about Lauryn Hill is that she is notoriously late or doesn't show for her scheduled live performances, I laughed out loud at the opening track where her name is called and there's no answer.
