Fantastic listen from start to finish. Only a couple songs I was 'meh' on, but overall, this is probably their strongest album for me since Narrow Stairs. Pretty cool to have some rippers on a new Death Cab album (Punching the Flowers/How Heavenly A State). Producer John Congleton has really brought Death Cab back from their synth phase and he's 2/2 with the band so far.
Death Cab doing the late career resurgence the right way.

Turnover has been at the highest of peaks (Peripheral Vision) & the lowest of lows (Myself In The Way) but after the synth drenched indie pop mess that was the latter, this is a very nice return to form for them and is nowhere near as bad as some of the reviews here indicate. No, it's not their best, but it's nowhere close to their worst, and was a pretty enjoyable listen. Didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did.

I've been following Paul for 25 years now. I'm 35 now, and I'm glad I've been lucky enough to follow him throughout the later years of his career. Paul's back end of his career has been filled with many late career gems, and he continues that momentum on The Boys of Dungeon Lane. While this album is significantly more reflective than much of his work, don't be fooled into thinking that this is a collection of easy listening songs, because Paul legitimately rocks ... read more
I had Space Age Love Song on a mix CD growing up in the early 2000's and I've always loved that song, but I didn't get around to experiencing the whole album up until now. I'm honestly surprised it took me so long, because this sound is right up my alley. While it exhibits all the sounds of Space Rock, a lot of Failure's sound feels very rooted in grunge, especially during some of the heavier tracks. The length of the album can be intimidating, but it's very much ... read more
My first thought after listening to Middle of Nowhere was that this honestly sounds like the spiritual successor to Golden Hour. It's got a very laid back, late night, cosmic country sound. To me, this is her sweet spot. Her last two albums were pretty good and I enjoyed her journey into pop, but I feel like Kacey really thrives in this sound.
Favorites: Loneliest Girl, Everybody Wants To Be A Cowboy, Rhinestoned, Mexico Honey
I remember being a little surprised this album wasn't more popular, but then I forgot 2012 was when we were thick in the weeds with "Stomp. Clap! Hey!" guitar music. All jokes aside, this is a surprisingly mature album. In some ways, it's hard to believe this is the same band that wrote 'Gives You Hell'. Pretty fun pop rock album.
Favorites: Someday's Gone, Beekeeper's Daughter, Kids in the Street, Gonzo
I hear everything from The Beach Boys to the Byrds to the Beatles.
What's not to like about that? In all seriousness, TLT are on a pretty nice run right now. The last 2 albums before this one were really great and it felt like they kept getting better and better. Looks like that trend continues with Look for your Mind!. This album will be in the summer rotation, for sure.
I honestly wasn't expecting too much, but Mike Ness and the boys surprised me for this one.
Favorites: Born To Kill, No Way Out, Wicked Game
I really enjoyed this. It doesn't match their run from the Self Titled album to Home of the Strange, but YtG has remained extremely consistent over the years, and they're great live so I'm some of these songs will open up more that way.
Favorites: Evergreen, Bitter Fruit
This is easily his best album in several cycles. Production is incredible. Was not expecting this.
I love when Dan & Pat go Delta Blues. The spiritual successor to Chulahoma and Delta Kream, you know exactly what you're getting and it is by no means a bad thing. The first half if pretty good, but this album REALLY kicks into gear on You Got To Lose. The run from that song to the end is top tier.
The two previous cover albums are two of my favorite Black Keys albums, and this one is coming in hot.
So I feel like it's kinda easy to dunk on the Foo Fighters, and it was going to be next to impossible to top But Here We Are as that was easily their best album since 2011's Wasting Light. This album is definitely not as bad as this site is making it out to be. The Foos aren't reinventing the wheel, by any means. They never have. However, this is a solid, quick, 10 track, to the point rock album from the Foo Fighters....and it does exactly what I want it to do.

I like the vibe of the album, but it doesn't really feel like the songs are as strong as her previous albums. Collapsed in Sunbeams in one of my top albums of the 20s so far and I liked her last album well enough, but I just feel like outside of the singles, too many of the songs kinda run together.
HIGHLIGHTS: Blue Disco, Get Go, Beams, 2SIDED
I'm not the biggest Aerosmith fan, but as a 35 (almost 36) year old millennial, this album seemed pretty omnipresent in the 90s. My Dad had it, my sister had it, my friends had it....so Get A Grip get a bit of a pass for me, especially as I've gotten older, apparently. This is the first time I've listened to this album through from beginning to end in years, and it's surprisingly consistent. I like some of the more "heavy" stuff (Eat The Rich, Shut Up & Dance) ... read more
Much more fully formed than Wild Life. Wings tries branching out their sound and largely succeed. One thing is for sure, Paul certainly knows how to write quite the medley. It starts off a little slow, but the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th sections are incredible.
The Double album is even better than the standard edition, but for these 9 tracks, 74 feels about right.

Gotta say, I was shocked to see a new The Academy Is.. album dropped today. I was 15 when their first album dropped and that seems like yesterday. Unfortunately, I am old.
One thing I immediately noticed was the synths. There seems to be a trend of older pop punk musicians trending towards synth rock. (The Outfield, Angels & Airwaves, etc.) It's not their second coming, but I don't think it was intended to be that way. I enjoyed my first couple spins, and while it didn't ... read more
At first I was a little lukewarm to this album. I was expecting a continuation of their 'Blue Weekend' phase into LP4. First couple listens I had a couple songs I pulled from The Clearing that were in my rotation for a bit (Just Two Girls, Bloom Baby Bloom) but over time, this album keeps opening up more and more. It's less the shoegazy sounds of the previous album and more glam/baroque rock. Initially, I probably would have given this maybe a highish 6, but I just keep coming ... read more
Been following these guys since their EP days, and this is a fantastic debut album.
