Took a long time to click, but I can confidently say I love this album now.
The lyrics are wack and often feel AI generated, the album is way too long (and it has a secret 2nd half!) but I don't actually mind this album that much compared to her other works. I think it's fine. There are some songs on this album that I actually like which is something I can't say for albums like Reputation or Midnights.
B Dizzle continues to reinvent his sound in new and exciting ways, he truly is one of the rappers alive.
This album feels like a couple having a child thinking it will solve their problems.
I do feel like this album is a little overhated. Most of these songs are by far the worst songs on Creedence's catalogue, however I still think they aren't that bad (except for Take it like a friend, that song is ASS) and there are some great moments on here.
Favourite- Someday Never Comes, Lookin' For a Reason, Hello Mary Lou
Least- Take It Like a Friend, Tearin' Up the Country, Sail Away
The core problem with this album is that Jacob Collier is too busy showing off his skills and making this album feel big rather than making it sound good.
A few funny moments and some nice lyrics on some of the songs, but overall this is just an extremely boring listen.
For the record I actually thought I was going to give this a much lower score because I don't really like him and I have some friends who are obsessed with him so I went in thinking I was going to hate this album but it's just ... read more
(Edit)- 88 -> 78
Going back to this EP made me realize some flaws the gorgeous production and vocals made me miss on the first couple of listens.
The lyrics are boring, and even though Shoegaze is a genre that needs good lyrics I actually don't think the lyrics are really an issue because the vibe is still there.
The second issue I have with this album is how repetitive it is. That's actually something I noticed on my first listen but I wrote it off as not being a big deal because of how ... read more
Best album I listened to this year so far.
So I started listening to Big Thief literally yesterday and this is the third project I'm hearing from them. I was very worried when I saw that this album is 80 minutes long, since it is very hard for me to stay engaged when listening to longer projects, and even more worried after listening to other Big Thief albums, as while I liked what I heard I still found the music to be kind of slow.
This album felt to me like the shortest project of theirs. The ... read more
according to the album cover these are some of "The best, funniest and most unique". Sure, calling something the best or funniest is subjective and I'm sure there are a lot of people who are going to enjoy this album! But unique? come on there is no way even he believes that. This album uses the most obvious and over-used jokes of recent memory (just look up the lyrics to My Life or Wanderin') without adding anything new to the table.
Also musically there is nothing unique about ... read more
I don't remember the last time an album made me wanna dig into an artist's catalogue as much as this one just did.
Anyway what the fuck did I just listen to
I think the thing that pisses me off the most about this album is that she didn't even have the guts to make a complete shitshow of an album so halfway through it turns into the most boring, generic, halfbaked pop music that really only could've come out in 2017.
I'm usually able to understand why people like stuff that I don't but I have no idea how every song on this album is this popular.
I heard of Mannequin Pussy before but this is my first time actually listening to them. The lead vocals remind me a lot of Paramore in the best way possible, instrumentation isn't super interesting but the production and vocals more than make up for that. I Got Heaven (the song) goes so hard it makes the other songs feel boring. Still, every song is pretty damn great.
Favorite- I Got Heaven, Loud Bark, OK? OK! OK? OK!
Least- Split Me Open
This album is so pretty. Love the aesthetic. Some awkward moments lyrics wise, probably as a result of english not being their first language (as a non native english speaker I get the struggle)
Also their singer sounds exactly like Stevie Nicks on Love in the Darkness which is pretty cool.
Best: Go On, LITD, Understand
Worst: Thinking
This thing had more twists than an M. Night Shyamalan movie while actually being entertaining
For the record I always disliked Travis Scott, but a lot of my friends and people I respect seemed to really love this album so this is my first time listening to a full Travis Scott album.
Travis is very boring and has no personality on this, as expected. The beats are VERY hit or miss, like, when they hit like in HYAENA and MY EYES they really hit and when they miss they are incredibly mediocre (never bad tho)
The features are, also, hit or miss. Beyonce is great and Drake delivers a ... read more
This is super impressive for a debut, the sound is great and overall it was a pretty enjoyable expirience however I don't see myself returning to this album ever. There are no standout tracks for me and there are so many other bands and artists that sound just like this.
Still very impressive considering it's their first LP and I'm very curious to see what's next for Friko
This is the greatest album of all time
I wish this album was shorter.
Anyway I'm gonna return to it in a couple of months and I'm probably going to love it.
Ngl this album shrunk on me quite a bit. I loved it when it came out but going back to it now I think it's kinda boring while also being way too edgy for my liking.
When The Party is Over is a great, standout track, but the rest of the album kind of blends together and becomes this weird mesh were it's difficult to tell each song apart, and the ones that do stand out I just straight up don't like i.e 8 or bury a friend.
At the end of the day this is still a pretty decent album. Production is ... read more
Production is great, instrumentation is very similar to the original (it's not a bad thing though). But holy shit Hayley sounds so good on this, might be my favourite vocal performance of hers in a while. She sounds very strange in the best way possible.
