Fleetwood Mac - Rumours

If we also count Silver Springs as a track on Rumours, this may be the album with the single most rock classics on it ever. The chain. Dreams. Go your own way. Silver springs. What a line-up. And the rest of the album slaps too. Grew up with Fleetwood Mac, but only now do I realise just how fucking essential to the 70s they were. Rumours is up there with Led Zeppelin II and IV, TDSOTM and In Utero for me. God I love rock.

I don't care... this is spectacular.

Feels like a veteran album, in both positive and negative ways as you’d expect. Sweet child, welcome to the jungle and paradise city are the supreme work of this album. If it consistently reached those peaks, it’d probably be the best hard rock album of the 90s. But too many tracks feel like a band out of ideas - not bad songs, but hardly memorable. Rocket Queen is a pretty underrated final anthem though.
