Listening to this álbum becomes a tad bit laborious at times, but I cant say I didn’t appreciate Raye’s effort, just wish she would’ve had spelled out more with the music and less with the spoken word :/
A stunning follow up álbum from an artist that seems very interested, like her foremothers, Björk and Madonna comes to mind, in expanding the possibilities for pop music.
There are measured silences and foreseen catharsis. Callbacks to the divine and the human, the sacred and the profane. Throughlines in between songs that take us to her previous works and at the same time, thoughtfull explorations of new tapestries.
