Historically I’ve never been a huge fan of TDWP believing they didn’t blend things as well as some other bands. On the other hand this scrappy little debut I sort of found myself enjoying towards the latter half of it. It’s rough around the edges and sloppy but it also is a blueprint for how big the band would eventually become.
An album I’ve listened to a handful of times but finally posting about. At this point in their career Gojira was at such an interesting point sort of evolving from their death metal roots into something much more singular.
Absolute classic Metalcore record. It’s scrappy, chaotic, heavy and contains what most acts similar didn’t have which is emotional weight with melody.
Deathcore has never really been my cup of tea but when I do listen to it I look for memorable moments. This album has quite a bit of them and also brings a lot of melody to the table that other bands within the genre wouldn’t try. I tip my hat.
The influence on every modern beatdown / heavy hardcore band comes from this. What’s wild is how throwback it feels even for 2011.
One of the most influential punk bands to walk this earth and one my favorite as well. Not sure if I prefer this over Suffer or Generator even but BR being able to sign to a major while not compromising any creative liberties is beyond me.
All controversies aside, this is a pretty fun record with a mix of hardcore chugs and brutal death elements to create this crazy deathgrind sound. It’s not anything new or groundbreaking but it’s quite exciting at times.
Also, they put on a hell of a show when I saw them open for Oceano last year.
Exactly how deathcore should be. Angry as fuck and incredibly heavy with hardcore sludginess.
Much better than their first demo in recording and song quality. That snare is fucking nasty.
Clevo HC legends. Thrashy raw metallic hardcore that’s right in your face. Can’t wait to see them next weekend.
