Comes out of the gate at 110 mph and doesn't let up one bit. I can only imagine the headache for Ross trying to mix three drummers, two guitarists, a DJ, sampler and vocals on all these tracks let alone keep these angry fucking guys in order while keeping the rawness and ferocity.
Sort of a shame that Mudvayne never really made anything quite as interesting and thought provoking as this was. What gets talked about plenty is the bass lines (which are insanely funky and jazzy) but the drumming on this is just as crazy leading you directions you didn't know were possible and making foot tapping impossible. The guitar riffs are understated as well because keeping up with that rhythm section is one thing but keeping it heavy is another.

Never meet your heroes and fuck the oppressors.
Abrasiveness meets sludge through sequences of pits of hell and depths that humans couldn't fathom.
Hinder is a BAD band and this is a BAD album but there are two bonafide blast at 2 am butt rock bangers on here that are hard to ignore.
When it doesn't sound like b rate Beatles, it's fucking biblical.
So fucking sassy makes me want to pull my skinny jeans and DC shoes out.
Honestly though this is a true work of phxc / sasscore art.
A mallcore classic. Equal parts cringe and emotionally heavy.
I still vividly remember discovering Smashed Into Pieces as a kid and being obsessed with whatever the fuck it was.
Almost feels wrong ranking this higher than Fragments but whatever the fuck Emma is doing on this record is insane.
This album leaves me so conflicted. Not because I don’t like it, in fact I really enjoy it. DW trades what I loved about them; beatdown chugs and 00s throwback melodic metalcore riffs for chugs and atmosphere. The thing is though I love the heaviness they bring to this record and they do it just as well as any other core band right now.
Not nearly as energetic as Jar and has much more of a downbeat spacier vibe to it.
Feels like a time capsule back to 90s spacey post hardcore.
A bit of a commodity. Simultaneously manufactured for the radio and unique enough to stand on its own without a major hit. It's corny while also being open and honest. Heavy while also being melodic. Isn't necessarily
"radio rock / butt rock / dad rock" but also fits in that category. Wins me over with its best songs but loses me on its worst.
Score might be slightly inflated because BB were a gateway band for me growing up and getting into heavier music.
So honest, sincere and poetic without ever reaching pretension.
How a cocksucker like Dave Mustaine such an anti authoritarian masterpiece is beyond me.
Feels like a CD I found in the attic from the MySpace era.
Loved it but wish they would've pushed some ideas a little further and the mix isn't necessarily my favorite.
The Callous Daoboys inspired me to revisit a chaotic classic from my childhood. Holds up well.
With time I can easily seeing this being a personal favorite as you almost need repeat listenings to understand the many layers of what's going on this new Callous Daoboys record.
I see lots of comparisons and being labeled as Dillinger Escape Plan for zoomers but I'd rather compare them to Every Time I Die. Just my two cents.
PUT SOME RESPEK ON AFI's NAME.
One of the most creative and daring punk bands of their time and some of you have the gall to call this corny. Pssssh. This is era defining and that isn't an opinion just listen to emo / post hardcore bands after this.
Shoutout to guitar hero for letting me discover Anthrax when I was 10.
Riffs are pummeling and the drumming on this is insane. Some of the vocals are pretty annoying but Anthrax doesn’t get enough credit for incorporating more hardcore influences into their sound and helping to shape crossover.
