Note: I listened to the UK edition which has the bonus tracks “Shame” and “When I Want”
This takes everything from Bleed American and improves upon it pretty well. The tracks feel a bit more fleshed out here and are just as catchy!
Favourite tracks: Futures, Pain, 23
Least favourite: Night Drive
Some damn good 90’s indie pop rock here! Expected every song to sound like Lovefool, but most of the tracks take on this super dreamy and ethereal vibe I love!
Everything here is top notch (especially the vocals) and really help make it memorable. Also shout out to the most random Black Sabbath cover ever.
Favourite tracks: Been It, Step On Me, Lovefool
Least favourite: Heartbreaker
Oh wow Led Zeppelin IV is brilliant who would have guessed.
Favourite tracks: Black Dog, Stairway To Heaven, Going To California, When The Levee Breaks
Least favourite: Four Sticks
5 Solid tracks but I can see why they were cut
Favourite tracks: Jesse, Art of War, Killing My Borrowed Time
Least favourite: Space Race
My first Geese album. Only heard 2 songs from them before listening to this, Trinidad (I think?) and 2122. Trinidad (?) didn’t really leave an impact but 2122 sounded really cool! So I decided to check out the album and it’s just as great!
Everything here has this kinda weird vibe to it that sounds great! Cameron Winter has a shockingly good voice for this sort of country rock. The instrumentals match his vibe perfectly. Damn good intro this band!
Favourite tracks: 2122, 3D ... read more
A solid indie pop album. The vocals and lyrics are strong throughout and sound really nice! Last 3 tracks are a bit weak but I feel like that’s only because of constantly good nearly everything before it is.
Favourite tracks: Helena Beat, Pumped Up Kicks, Houdini
Least favourite: Miss You
400 reviews! Yeah!
This is such a sad note to end Panic! on. As someone who will defend their catalog up to and including Death Of A Bachelor, this is so disappointing. It’s actually not that bad up till track 5 where it falls of a cliff.
They had the great lyrics on the first two albums and really solid instrumentals up to DOAB, but that’s long gone by this point.
Brendon ups the theatre kid energy to overdrive on this and it’s so corny and makes a lot of the songs worse ... read more
If this is the lead single for a new album, it’s damn good. Mellow Beck delivers again!
Was expecting the more afrobeat inspired stuff present on Remain In Light, but this is just as excellent! Still has that funky new wave sound but with more present post-punk sound.
A shame the last 3 tracks were pretty weak because otherwise this would be just as great as RIL
Favourite tracks: Life During Wartime, Memories Can’t Wait, Heaven
Least favourite: Electric Guitar
Classic TMBG really. Enjoyable, fun and a bit morbid. Really solid and lived up to my expectations!
Favourite tracks: Outside Brain, Get Down, Character Flaw
Least Favourite: Telescope
This just proves early Arcade Fire was always great. A bit rough around the edges but it adds a certain charm. Also Headlights Look Like Diamonds should have been reused it's fantastic!
Favourite tracks: Old Flame, No Cars Go, Headlights Look Like Diamonds
Least favourite: The Woodlands National Anthem
Note: I listened to the 2001 remaster which has 4 bonus tracks
Plastic letters is a solid album but they definitely outdid themselves later by mixing the punk and new-wave better. Here it feels like half the album is new wave, while the other has more of a punk edge to it. A solid showcase of their early stuff.
Favourite tracks: Fan Mail, Denis, I Didn’t Have the Nerve To Say No
Least favourite: Kidnapper
Era defining album right here! Some of the best and most consistent pop songs from the 2010’s! For a 16 year old this is seriously impressive. The biggest compliment is that it doesn’t sound dated 13 years later.
Favourite tracks: Tennis Court, Ribs, A World Alone
Least favourite: Still Sane
What if I said this is better than Parklife? It has three of my favourite songs by the band and is consistently good and catchy throughout!
Favourite tracks: Country House, Charmless Man, The Universal
Least favourite: Dan Abnormal
This is just great! The beats are great, the rapping is solid and it sounds cool. The instrumentals are pretty good as well and show that the Beastie Boys are really solid producers.
Favourite tracks: Sure Shot, Sabotage, Get It Together
Least favourite: Eugene’s Lament
Revolver is where the Beatles really started to make brilliant stuff personally. I just enjoy the more psychedelic stuff in their catalog and they really leaned into that here! Still has the sound of their older stuff but refined to a point. Just great!
Favourite tracks: Taxman, Eleanor Rigby, Tomorrow Never Knows
Least favourite: Doctor Robert
