2021 might be the best year ever for hip hop, and this very well could be the best hip hop album of 2021. The production on this album is some of the best I've ever heard, and Little Simz proves herself yet again to be one of the best rappers out there.
Very rarely does an album completely change my view of what music is, but this definitely does that. This sounds like if the most experimental moments of Injury Reserves earlier material overdosed on anabolic steroids and tried to make an album, but the audio files on that album got corrupted.
Peggy's masterpiece. Well, he already had 3 masterpieces prior to this, but this is his best work yet. There's so much good experimentation and fun lyrics, and this is his most consistently brilliant album while also having Peggy's highest highs yet. Also, ALL THEM THREATS BE MAKING ME HARD.
There's so many good lines here and the production is insanity. Peggy digs more into his chill side compared to Veteran while still having some abrasive moments. I feel like Kenan Vs. Kel is the best example of this, as the first part is very chill in its production, but the second part is some of the hardest shit ever created.
While I'm not in love with a few songs on here, the high points more than make up for it. The first 5 tracks excluding Dayum are utterly incredible, and there's so much good outside of that too. This is also Peggy's funniest album in my opinion, and it has I Cannot Fucking Wait Until Morrissey Dies.
Solid debut with some really good moments that showed what Peggy was capable of prior to him truly reaching his potential.
My personal favorite from Cavalcade. Has the jazzy beauty of Cavalcade but also has some moments that are somewhat reminiscent of Schlagenheim.
While I do miss the noisier elements of Schlagenheim, the beautiful elements and technical proficiency more than make up for it here. Hellfire seems to be going in a similar direction to this but better, so I hope the record after Hellfire goes for a middle ground between the noisy chaos of Schlagenheim and the jazzy prog prowess of Cavalcade and Hellfire.
Starts off very strong before getting painfully mid towards the end. There's so many weird lyrics here, which is personally one of the main appeals I find from this type of trap music, but even that can't save how generic and boring the final stretch of this album is.
No one else could make something like "I nut on that fish on my sofa" go so hard besides Serj Tankian.
There's 3 types of System of a Down songs. Ones with deep political messages, ones that are complete nonsense, and ones that are both.
Terminal Frost sounds like an AI generated version of an 80s song. Awful, but bordering on so bad that it's funny.
I really don't want to show any support to Alexis Marshall, but this is a brilliant album.
The first 4 songs are solid, especially Hash Pipe and Island In the Sun, but the rest of the album besides O Girlfriend is an actual cure for insomnia. It's impressive how boring this album gets.
