A hell of a trip. Spacey live improv combined with powerful psych rock songs. I enjoyed it a lot, though I don't always have the time for Dark Star despite how great it is.
Agriculture are masters of post-metal, this new album brings some of the most unique sounding metal I've heard in a while. Their ability to combine the most heavy and crushing sounds with quiet melancholy passages is impressive.
A good album hidden in a bloated mess. Some of Zappa's downright worsg tracks are on here such as "Frogs With Dirty Little Lips", "Baby Take Your Teeth Out" and the worst offender "Planet Of My Dreams". There are enough good tracks to make this a worthwhile listen, mostly entailing long experimental guitar solos. The Johnny Guitar Watson feature was excellent.
Lark's Tongues In Aspic is one of the most incredible rock suites of all time, unfortubately completely out-shining the tracks in betwren eacb part.
Avant-garde and spacey. This is the kind of prog rock I love, the dark atmosphere and stripped back compositions leave a lot of room for brooding build-ups.
I have a strong emotional connection to this album so my score might be biased by that. I fucking love this album, great songwriting and performances. Fiddlehead have their own sound.
A lot of amazing tracks here, Talking Heads aren't quite at their prime here but you can see that they're getting close creatively.
This is LOG on top form. Heavy as fuck, groovy as fuck. I hope the album holds up to this standard.
Not as good as their debut, Fleshwater seem to be diving into the Deftones worship sound. Despite this what makes Fleshwater themselves is still here. A great album but doesn't reach tbe highs of their last.
I was lucky enough to see Chat Pile twice around the period this was recorded. It captures their live energy perfectly. So punchy, delivery so unhinged. Fucking awesome. Great setlist too.
Experimental in places, yeah. Not Sonic Youth's best though. This sounds like the band trying to find their sound amongst the exploding alt-rock scene that they were a big inspiration to.
Absolutely sublime. One of my favourite LPs I own.
The full concert is an umbelievable experience. This is one of my favourite live albums of all time. Zappa made rock music to fund his true love: 20th century classical. His love for the music is incredibly clear here, the orchestration is perfect. I listen to the full concert often, it is divine.
90's style alternative rock with a touch of grunge influence. Gordy Murphy is a talented multi-instrumentalist, incorporating elements of blues and post rock into an alternative rock style. A very good debut album from a small artist, I hope he gets some more recognition. I'm excited to see where he goes next.
A classic for a reason. Incredible songwriting, the simplicity of the guitar, vocals and harmonica leave a lot of room for Dylan's wondeful delivery to shine.
I will never get sick of this album. Possibly the greatest debut of all time.
When they aren't playing it safe Biffy Clyro have some amazing ideas, I wish they leaned more into them in this album. The first half proves much more interesting because of this. I anticipated this album and wasn't completely dissapointed, overall I still enjoy it despite it's flaws.
An interesting album. Ranges from chill to psychedelic dance but keeps a consistant vibe.
Experimental. This album feels disjointed, Paul was clearly trying out a few different things and seemed to just stick them together here. Not his best.
Grrat flows, amazing beats. Insane how unknown this album is. I can't believe it's the same guy who made Maximin.
