This album is just fucking insane. Relentless, twisted riffs. Try showing the “it’s all just 4/4” bros this one.
This album is almost disturbing, much more wild than Puciato-era Dillinger.
(Note: Weekend Sex Change is what I imagine Swans would have sounded like if they somehow picked up prog metal).

Can’t believe a Josh Block video put me onto this band. This album is nothing but raw agression. The features are a nice touch, adding some nice variation in the sound. This isn’t your generic slam-nothing-but-chugs-and-growling album, this is some very talented (coke addicted(and more?)) guys going as hard as they fucking can. And they do.
They also had fun with it clearly, just read the lyrics. Ending with that smoke on the water interpolation was so fucking funny. Please try ... read more
Clearly very inspired by Lana, people hating her and calling her a rip-off need to remember she did early into her career and many artists at this stage wear their influences very clearly on their sleeve. This is a wonderful baroque-pop album that flows beautifully.
Favourite tracks: Lilith, Red Herring, Ode To Evelyn
A baroque/art-pop masterpiece. It took me a long time to come round to Lana, there’s only so many times you can hear Video Games on the radio before becoming sick of it. Eventually I came round to listening to Ultraviolence and can now really appreciate it. The combination of luscious strings, occasional soaring guitar and gorgeous vocals all mixed perfectly make this one of my favourite pop albums.

The last great album by Kanye (as of mid-2025). Short but to the point. Ghost Town is one of my favourite songs ever, optimistic and euphoric. So good.
Great live renditions of a great selection of songs. Only let down by the poor mixing.
One of the greatest R&B albums of all time. Only 4 tracks but they are all incredible. Isaac shows his range so well despite the small amount of tracks. From funk to soul, his voice soars beautifully over the instrumentation. The backing band deserve kudos too. Fantastic album.
This album was perfect anyway, I really love this mix though. The more prominent bass is wonderful to hear. Possibly the best soul album of all time. 110/100.
The raw emotion in this album is unbelievable. I was lucky enough to see them support Chat Pile, it made my ex cry. I’m excited to see what meth. come up with next. The highlights are: Doubt, Blush and Shame. Not to say the other tracks aren’t incredible. The blend of noise rock and extreme metal is perfect. I even heard some early Sonic Youth in some moments.
So fast and relentless. The EP is over before you know it. The second half with meth. is the highlight of the album, its so dissonant and cathartic.
Essential listen for fans of early Swans. Your Game is superior to Your Property (the Filth version anyway). Seal It Over goes so hard. Tracks like “We’ll Hang For That” are as raw as it gets. For people new to Swans; maybe start with Filth and work up through Cop and Young God before listening. It’ll give you a much larger appreciation for these tracks. I love hearing alternate versions of songs and Swans’ ever evolving sound is so clearly shown here.
Such fast screaming it’s practically rapping. Insane fucking riffs. This album is damn near perfect. Met the singer after a show, absolutely lovely guy!
Hell of a ride. One of the. Greatest albums of all time, captures Swans’ live energy perfectly. Please see them if you get the chance. I’m so indescribably glad they came back.
Heavy as hell with a touch of ambience and softer moments. The mix is amazing and so is the music. No skips.
Not a bad album really, I feel like it was just a disappointment after such a long wait. A lot of good songs here, it’s just more of an Axl Rose solo project than a GnR album.
Very vocal-oriented for Zappa, no complaints from me there. Funny, still musically impressive and contains some of his last great studio work (bar-synclavier stuff).
Swans magnum opus. At least post-reunion. Tense, loud, groovy cuts here flex their musical muscles and the incredible Bring The Sun/Toussaint l’ouverture especially shows their ability to create a variety of songs that still feel cohesive collection despite the varying song lengths and feels. A real modern masterpiece in post-rock.
Another perfect album for me. I can’t believe a band so strung out on heroin could put together such an energetic and creative album. Side note: read Duff McKagan’s autobiography, it is so well written and gives great insight into the band’s history.
An album I’ve been listening to since I was a kid, no skips at all for me. Izzy Stradlin really shines here.
