Love Is Not Enough wasn't enough for Converge this year.
Less than 4 months after the release of Love is Not Enough, Converge bless us with another one of their albums, one that is distinct from the others; Hum of Hurt. This LP takes Converge's signature sound, mostly ditching speed in favor of Sludge/Post-Harcore elements, and, to put it simply, it's pretty fucking mental. The three guys holding the instruments are on fire here: Ben's drumming is calculated and precise, ... read more
Pop Metal at its finest
Bad Omens don't need any introductions. They're one of the most well-known metal bands of the decade, and also one of the most polarizing. On one hand, people love their blend of Pop, Electronic, and Metal on this album. On the other hand, people either dismiss their music or simply don't like it. But what about me? Well, I think Bad Omens truly understood, at least for the most part, how to blend the aforementioned genres, which are incredibly distinct ... read more

[REVIEW]
Batty this, Batty that, Batty blablabla. Honestly? This was a pretty fun album. Gonarch's Lair is Vylet Pony's first fully fledged hip hop effort, and personally? I think it came out well, especially considering her other attempts at hip hop. It's bassy, it's lush, it's weird, and it's fun
The main highlights of this album are the 7-minute experimental hip hop title track, which ... read more
This is my first Boris album, but why this one when there are other albums by the band considered better and more memorable? Well, it all boils down to the idea. This LP is a double album where the two discs are meant to be listened to simultaneously, a concept I had never seen before. That's what attracted me to this album. Though now that I think about it, that basically means that the album is just a normal one, but with two of its defining components separated into two discs.

sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss :)
Ok, I'll listen to this someday, just let me take my time
Thanks to @SultrixSymphony for the suggestion, and sorry for being so late!
This album is fine. None of the songs are bad, though the project gets repetitive, fast. Don't have much to say aside from that, honestly. It's generic, but it's perfectly serviceable.
Highlights (in no particular order): Criminal, Break the Silence, Starting Over, Ever After
Do not underestimate the scary humanoid centipede album!
Converge's second album is nothing short of great. With this record, the band manages to combine Metallic Hardcore with melodic parts adjacent to Emo and construct songs that are mostly longer than 2 minutes. This may not seem like much of an achievement, especially today, but the idea isn't what makes this album really good; it's the execution. Of course, though, we can't talk about this album without at least ... read more
@drakkarnior Thanks for the self promo, and I'm really sorry for the delay
There is potential, I will say, but it's not fully utilized here. The beats feel repetitive, and the flow feels choppy. I do like the genre-blending attempts on this album, though, hence why I think there's potential in your work. I haven't got many thoughts on this album, but I've got enough to say that Twenty is a pretty average instrumental hip hop album with good ideas that need more time ... read more
What can a better mix do for an album? Well, it can help quite a bit, I'd say
Last Light: 95 --> 100
Black Cloud: 85 --> 90
Wolves at My Door: 80
Overall album: 80 --> 90
The Dusk In Us is the result of Converge taking their previous album and capitalizing more on mathcore compositions and atmospheric soundscapes without making the two intersect. Does this approach work? Yes, it does. However, that isn't without a drop in quality. While this record has one of Converge's best first halves, with songs such as A Single Tear and the atmospheric title track, and the brutal Under Duress and, it also has one of their weakest second halves. The songs are good, ... read more
What is No Heroes if not the result of Converge trying to capitalize even more on short, hardcore outbursts? Well, it's nothing much more than that. Most of the songs on this album, especially in the first half, can get as short as one minute. Now, as much as the songs can be energetic, this fact creates a problem: Flow and pacing inconsistencies. Now, if that's the only problem this album has, then I would've given it a higher score. So, what's wrong with this album? It ... read more
[EDIT 3]
90 --> 80
Change of score induced by modifications to my rating system. The album did not grow off me
[EDIT 2]
85 --> 90
Oh boy, oh boy
[EDIT]
80 --> 85
It only keeps growing, there's not much else to say.
[RE-REVIEW]
After I listened to No Heroes, I decided to try this album again and to re-review it before doing anything else. You can tell from my old review down below that I didn't like it much, but what about right now?
Well, I'm just gonna say this: ... read more
Metalcore veterans Converge are back with a new kick-ass album, and, to nobody's surprise, it's good, especially for a band that has been in the game for more than 35 years. The first half is more metalcore, probably their most metalcore work, with some chugging riffs and guitar solos scattered around the overall brutality. Meanwhile, the second half is definitely more sludgy and a little posty. The production is curated by master Kurt Ballou, and it doesn't miss. Every ... read more

If Jane Doe was, for many, at least, the gigantic leap of faith and Axe To Fall the mature step forward, this record is the culmination of the two. All We Love We Leave Behind is the definitive Metalcore Converge experience. It's everything its older brothers are and even more. It retains the ferocity and brutality of both records and, instead of ramping it up to noise like Jane Doe or contextualizing it through intricate guitarwork like Axe To Fall, it polishes it with sandpaper and a ... read more
