Great callback to the "golden" days of prog, the early to mid seventies! Wobbler managed to create one of the greatest oldschool prog albums post 1980 all the way in 2017! Title track is a 20min epic with a great ending and Rendered In Shades Of Green sounds like minecraft!
I love evangelion (❁´◡`❁) and I love this! Komm, Susser Tod is soul breaking as always, even when in japanese! I know I'm about to cry like I've never cried before 💕✨
Weak! ARGH, it hurts to say!!! I like Now Lover and Four Pails a lot, but the rest of the tracks here are pretty boring in my opinion. Lyrics are a strong suit as usual even the Chris Judge Smith lyrics (not that he is bad, nearly every song he ever wrote for Hammill he wrote very well). Very pop-y sounding, which I get he was going for, but Peter doesn't do pop very well. There is a tiktok video of a lady painting to Painting By Numbers which is funny.
This is going in my "alt reality minecraft" playlist for sure. Well, at least track 1. Funny name on that one too
Very M83 esque second track, which works well. Long Song takes me back to Kevin MacLeod's music at times, particularily what was included in KSP. Feel like I just reach orbit in my little AssTrumpet420 Mark 69. Feels very grand there at the ending, like the space army returning from the war on venus in triumpf while someone practices basic scales on a keyboard. Good ... read more
Some real bangers here, though much of the album is sorta generic popish music I don't find interesting. Summer Song (In the Autumn) is the best suicide song of all time.
How majestic can something possibly be? Very sinister sounding to me.
Some gems here. Japanese prog is often cool, this is no exception.
This is what all christian rock should be. Play this at those megachurches! Would blast 24/7 if I was christian
Fish wrote some damn good lyrics here, title track and Forgotten Sons have some incredible songwriting. I think all of them are great, the web has a great guitar solo if you are into that.
Track number one is like hearing all the blasters in starwars at once, constantly. This could be in the next movie.
Track number two is the sound a rocket makes when it takes off, which is certainly patriotic in a way, as long as it's not the sound of an ICBM, which would be bad. Takes me back to playing KSP if nothing else.
Track number three seems to drag us down to some sort of underworld where our senses are battered by a trillion tortured souls at once, which is not a good ... read more
Retracing the steps of their first in just the right way! The title track is better than anything on the OG, don't @me.
I do NOT like Killer.
House With No Door is one of the greatest songs of all time.
The Emperor In His War Room is pretty standard prog.
Lost is a fantastic love song, one of the best.
Pioneers Over C... Some great parts, some bad parts.
A tab in the ocean is neither a very exciting nor a boring album, sitting pretty much right in the middle of "quite good prog".
The opening track is quite good, but I often feel like a good build up is broken down too early into not-so exciting prog sound. The playing is good though, and the song balances heavier moments with near serenity well. The drums however are not so great, sounding small and far away. Lyrically, nothing that interesting is said; the song seems to urge us to ... read more
The title track is ofc one of the most well known prog tracks of all time, for good reason, but the rest of the album is also quite nice. Very organ-y. Bruford is a monster as usual, easy to see why he thought Yes would go downhill after this one and left.
Not gonna rate this because I haven't listened to a lot of jazz. Very cool cover, especially with the red title sticker.
