Post-rock, progressive, screamo, or whatever you want to call it, is quickly becoming one of my favorite music genres. The high points of this album ultimately outweigh its occasional low or weird moments. The instrumentation is strong, and the dual vocals of Drew Speziale and Kathleen Coppola, who alternate between harsh and clean singing, are excellent. This album is fantastic! Despite still being relatively unknown and underground today, Circle Take The Square demonstrates their dynamic and ... read more
This is a strong release from Underoath, showcasing more introspective lyrics than their previous work. However, my only minor complaint is that the sound sometimes feels a bit generic and resembles what other metalcore bands were producing at that time. This is especially noticeable when compared to "They're Only Chasing Safety," which has a much more distinctive sound. Overall, though, it remains an enjoyable listen.
One Eyed God Prophecy was a fascinating yet short-lived early screamo band that unfortunately seems to have been overshadowed by other prominent acts of the 90s, like Saetia and Heroin. This album is quintessential dad rock, even before the term became popular. It's my dad's favorite band. Before fully listening to this album, I was only familiar with "Baba O'Riley," "Behind Blue Eyes," and "Won't Get Fooled Again." I was surprised by how bluesy it sounds. It's definitely a classic, and I can easily see why it's so revered.
Yeah one last rating for 2024, so what wannna fight about it. Happy New Year Yall
Doomgaze is such a fascinating genre to me, and Holy Fawn are one of the groups that seem to do it best
Very important ep for Black Metal as a whole, leans more towards the Thrash and Venom worship than what they were do later as this incarnation of Mayhem. All in all, i's pretty gnarly, with some decent playing from what, at the time, was a bunch of teenage Dorks.
One of the greatest and most important screamo albums of all time
Definity her most Mainstream accessible album to date, but I think now that we live in a post-brat, we can confidently saw that she don't need to compromise her writing or style to gain attention or success, Still there are a lot of Bops on this and fun to be have.
Vocals sound like a froggy whispering to me, But nah this is pretty solid slam. Saw them with 200 Stab Wounds and they go hard live.
