Quadeca - SCRAPYARD
92

A series of once scraps that were missed out from his previous project with some than originally produced new songs to mix in, this album holds its own atmosphere and has some of his best work in it with too many extremely relistenable and catchy tunes, watching this guy make these absolute tunes with music videos to boot in such quick time, this man is on fire. I only want to see more and more from him because he just can't stop getting better right now.

Edit in May: Just like IDMTHY, this ... read more

Holy Fucking Shit.

AJR - OK ORCHESTRA
72

Probably not going to review AJR albums too much, for me its simply that the music itself is really top notch and I really enjoy it, the lyrics of most songs are never great, the band has became a punching bag sadly and people will just bandwagon onto it and it'll possibly never come to an end. Despite that, this is a album with great sound, energy and production and I can really get behind it. Besides the lyrics not being anything impressive, I'm yet to see anyone have any actual proper ... read more

Quadeca - Out of Order

Same issue of as From Me To You but without as much great stuff to take away, same issue of a vibe that is then ruined because a bunch of unneeded at the time YouTube Rap was thrown in, idontwannaspeakagain is without question and most you'll find saying the same a great thing to take away and was apart of his eventual style. Everything production wise, lyrical and flow wise on here is just not too great but not painful to listen to. Rating could be lower but I have to put in perspective of ... read more

glass beach - the CIA

Will most likely be me but I felt the final part was a bit unneeded or more, a bit too much. Besides from that this is really great and I'm looking forward to the full project.

twenty one pilots - twenty | one | pilots
77

It's hard to go too in-depth with this one, almost a revesting of it would be awesome, clearly a band at this point just trying some things out and to be fair a lot of it pretty decent but can't say there's much rememberable tracks in here for me personally, but it has that very young and raw charm about it this.

twenty one pilots - Vessel

There is not one song in here I do not like, everything in here is great and why I am a TOP fan, unlike Blurryface I can still draw out meaning from most of these tracks besides a slight few. Find great enjoyment in the vocals and instruments. It's not perfect but it's certainly the embodiment of twenty one pilots in my eyes and the unique style and delivery that made so many fall in love with them.

twenty one pilots - Blurryface

From someone who finds this album pure nostalgic, I consider myself a fan of the band for years now and some songs on here meaning a lot to me : Goner. I will say that on relistens, especially in the comparison to Trench, a lot of the noise that comes out from this Album I simply end up skipping. Some favourites in here I can listen from time to time but not constantly, they just don't have that type of enjoyment. Some have kept and some have lost any of the meanings I made up for them as a ... read more

Joji - Nectar

This offers a lot more substance and great tracks to single out and work with compared to Ballads, despite that outside a to be fair good amount of high quality tracks that perfectly capture Joji's now established style, everything else is a complete miss out and feel like they have no direction. He's experimenting in them but in a boring way, not really even experimenting just trying to throw in random genres he has no experience in. Returning to it though, a song like Reanimator is actually ... read more

Joji - BALLADS 1

Slow Dancing in the Dark is hard to hate upon, everything else in this album to me is a complete forgettable experience, it all feels the same but in a not so good way. Straight boring. This was the sharpening of Joji's new style but it only gets one good cut.

edit: 45 -> 60, still find feels very too same in a boring manner but I can appreciate some of the songs in moments after a relisten, mainly cant get over you, no fun and test drive.

Joji - In Tongues

Sadly what was the end of Joji's experimental era as he debuts into the industry, someone coming in after Chloe Burbank, with a similar vibe just with higher production and a lot more focus on sadness and haunting of the past. Yet it gets slammed to the ground. Yet go look at the same people bashing it and yet giving Chloe Burbank praise. Makes no sense, this delivers and ticks all the same cool, weird boxes to me. The start and end to the Joji I knew.

Joji - SMITHEREENS
83

Joji is without doubt from this Album's release a full fledged artist, a mainstream one. Billions of listens, millions of followers. Should this album have more substance to it, yes. But I believe this to be overly hated. The only songs I think in here are scraps are Dissolve and BlahBlahBlah Demo, name says it all there. Everything out of those two I believe to be good high quality songs which I firmly enjoy. Night Rider criminally hated and might be one of my favourites on here. This has ... read more

Joji - Chloe Burbank Volume 1

Quite a sad one to look back on the perspective of Joji's style now, I remember listening to this on Soundcloud everyday to and back from School, a album with so much experiment you a constant vibe to it at once. It's got some of that Pink Guy Style songs that do sour some of its beautiful vibed songs, songs that I remember and listen to, to this day. There's a style here Joji never came back to. His style now is enjoyable but feel very mainstreamed, this was Joji to me.

Taylor Swift - 1989 (Taylor's Version)
NR

Artist who now has to live on peoples nostalgia, quite the fall from grace, only option when any present projects no longer work.

Saib. - Bebop
75

My Profile Picture may make me sound utter bias upon this, but this album gives the respective anime the respect it deserves, it brings those moments of beauty out, the up beat jazz for those flashy action packed moments, a few in here like Spike Spiegel and Ballad of Fallen Angels are perfect capturing's of the those moments, other tracks don't do it as well but there is always that capturing somewhere in each track, some stronger than others. A respectable collection of tracks and for fans ... read more

khai dreams - Summer Is Like a Dream

I think for many, the first introduction to khai dreams, their style has changed a lot since this time but there was a beautiful peace that this EP gave me, there's nothing that blows you away, its just a nice calming sound throughout, it brings you good peace and that very much felt like that aim.

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly

Undeniable Proof that Jazz and Hip Hop are an unstoppable duo.

Nujabes - Metaphorical Music

One of the greatest albums ever, hip hop, jazz fans holy grail. Everything on this is pure bliss. Every day I can listen to this. It's exactly why Nujabes is held so highly by anyone who knows of him. My personal favourite is The Final View. Absolutely Magnificent. This whole album is a beautiful, smooth dream. You just float across a vibrant coloured world, that keeps its colours warm and pleasing to the eye. To anyone who loves this, please look even more into Nujabes. This isn't where it ... read more

BADBADNOTGOOD - Time Moves Slow / Speaking Gently
90

In the funny nature of its title, it really does deliver a slow down that allows you to sit back and take it all in, think about what you got to think about, its lyrics simple and beautiful. A proper classic and a song that will deliver whenever you need it.

KSI - Dissimulation
40

Look at those features, funny thing that this has some of lil pump's only semi enjoyable performances. For the amount of Star power KSI got for this, you can tell he wanted this to be so much more than it was. It just felt artificial.

On 𝕢𝕦𝕒𝕝𝕞𝕖𝕣𝕚𝕠𝕦𝕤's review of John Michel - Egotrip
"the album called EGOTRIP feels like its big for its britches and doing a victory lap, shocking stuff who would of thought. Overproduction is such a false term to throw at this, its more than lyrically clear and easy to differentiate the various elements and layers You're hating on it for the guy rapping fast????? Discrediting work just because the artist doesn't have history? What are we doing."
On TenderButtons's review of Quadeca - Vanisher, Horizon Scraper
"Too emotionally driven, Focuses on hate, not critique Contradictory authority, Claims ignorance, then makes bold statements Lacks specific examples, Doesn’t support arguments with song-level analysis Uses pseudo-intellectualism, Name-drops and genre-terms without real analysis Poor structure & repetition, Points are repeated, not built upon Immature conclusion Ends with apathy, not reflection or insight You don't come across as if you have any knowledge, you're just throwing words together and thinking it sounds like anything partially insightful, you clarify nothing."
