i’m not gonna lie, i feel like i actually ‘get’ this album every other time i listen to it. but when I do it’s this lush, abrasive, truly immersive experience unlike anything else. it’s one that requires me to be present and actually listen, not just have it on in the background. it’s also been on and off my rotation for years but i’m just recently starting to love it. even when i wasn’t a huge fan it always somehow stuck with me.
I decided to put this on this morning. Sat outside, it was sunny, felt somewhere in 80s and there was a little bit of a breeze. It was dreamy, meditative, colorful, melancholic, and felt both familiar and new. For a little while I didn't think about anything, I was able to just sit and listen.
May be a perfect album, now that I’m actually thinking about it.
Idk this just didnt click for me like 1000 gecs did. I do understand the appeal for hyperpop fans, it just didnt do it for me. Found some tracks to be good (really liked kinkos field trip) but most others i found kinda giving me second hand embarrassment. Ill probably try to revisit in the future, cause maybe itll just take time to work for me, kinda like my experience at first with listening to gecs.
First listen for me was while driving around town at sunset to pick up food. The only way i can describe it would be a feeling of falling in and out of sleep until eventually slipping into a beautiful dream that you dont want to wake up from. I just wish i could experience it again in that same way.
Been listening to this one a lot lately.
One of those albums where each song has unique and hits in its own way. Del's flow and voice is really just so nice and easy to listen to and there's some amazing beats. Really the only thing that I'm not a huge fan of in this is some of the skits, other than that really strong album all the way thru.
Madness, Mastermind, 3030 are my current top 3 off this but i can see that changing with how strong each song is.
Felt similar to this one like I did with the new Have a Nice Life record. It’s not bad but didn’t really resonate with me. Maybe I’m just too in to the new fka twigs album and am not giving this one a fair shot. Idk?? For now though it’s one that’s not at the top of my list to revisit. I will say tho, windows hits pretty hard.
Has grown on me since the first listen and I honestly think it gets better each time I listen to it. The production and lyrics are both so dense and energetic and beautiful. There’s really a lot to unpack on this record and that’s one of the reasons why it keeps me coming back.
Typing this out while wearing my Alex g shirt so imma have a biased opinion. Definitely one of my most listened to if the year and he’s one of my most listed to artists in general according to my last.fm. Just saw him live too and that’s a whole other experience on it’s own. But this record especially strikes that perfect balance of experimental and catchy melancholic sound for me. Really one of those artists I can listen to no matter how I’m feeling. And I’ve ... read more
I’m not entirely sure how to feel about this one. I don’t hate it when I listen to it, i actually enjoyed it quite a bit going through it that first listen. For me tho there’s too much other stuff I’d rather listen to and this one isn’t doing too much new stuff to keep me coming back. Especially comparing it to a masterpiece like deathconsciousness it falls short and ends up just a little too predictable in the end.
Saw him open for 100 gecs last night, decided to check out his album. He had some great energy for his live performance and some pretty catchy hooks. Love me a good hook. He has a pretty solid album here with some pretty great production. Kinda reminds me of Yves Tumor and Jaeden Smith (?). Each track is pretty solid in here tho and quite a few are good to simp to. I could definitely see him taking off in the future, definitely an album to check out tho.
Wow. Fucking beautiful, had this on repeat this weekend since It’s release. One of those albums for me where every song hits so hard, and gave me chills multiple times throughout the album. Production is some futuristic, otherworldly R&B shit, and her voice just cuts right into my heart on almost every track. Imo this might be up there with Frank’s blonde to me (one of my all time favorite records), and I think is a worthy comparison given FKA Twigs artistic approach on this ... read more
I personally do not think this album is as terrible as many are saying it is. With that being said, I do believe that the Christian themes are going to be one of the biggest dividing factors on one's enjoyment of Jesus Is King.
This record is very, very "Christian". While Kanye still has his self awareness and flow throughout, the album is extremely clean, with no profanity whatsoever, and a major focus shifted much more toward faith, Jesus, and chick-fil-a. I've only listened ... read more
