This is genuine satire genius. Would I ever listen to it again? Fuck no. But I admire the sheer artistry required to produce something this painfully cringe.
A genuinely superb single. I'll be honest, I found this song from an Instagram ad, and it just swept me off my feet. The outro is a little too long for my taste, but besides that? Wow. Excited for her future releases.
Surprisingly good. Simple, punchy, and very catchy. My notes are that the vocals could use a little work, the bridge is a little wonky, and the whole thing could probably be a little shorter, but as it is, it still works.
A great snippet of 2010s Bandcamp indie rock. The guitar sounds, vocals, and lyricism are all great at creating a mood. This is likely Alex's best record as a single experience, and that's mostly how I enjoy it.
As a long time Alex G fan, though, this isn't my favorite. The individual songwriting feels weaker compared to the rest of his work, and it's more bloated than normal. Definitely enjoyable, and it's definitely not 'bad' compared to the rest of his ... read more
Is he trying to destroy his career? I don't get it. Two derivative and pointless singles after his last album which bombed. Love the guy, but everything past Nectar has been ROUGH.
Okay, hope is restored. This one is really good. A surprisingly inventive take on his more rock-oriented tracks, with a touch of his modern hyperpop production. I'm really loving the push for more intense vocals here too, it feels like we got into a slump for a while. Not much else to say. It's a breath of fresh air from him.
Inconsistent, dated... with some really incredible tracks thrown in.
This record definitely has a distinct vibe to it, in mostly a good way. It easily caught my attention and has a pretty good flow throughout. Though, I think it's a little easy to get turned off by it. The production lacks depth and feels a little flat (in usual 2001 fashion), and some of the ideas can feel a little cheesy. But I love it.
It really is a time capsule. Even the album artwork makes me nostalgic for a time I ... read more
Once again, Cavetown proves he can make a really good single. Let's see how the full album shapes up.
I was gonna write up something semi-big for this, but unfortunately Fantano said pretty much exactly what I was thinking. Bastard.
It's okay. Some good standout tracks, but very one note (the lyricism is especially trash). Their debut had much better deep cuts, while this new record has slightly better highs. They add to their formula a bit, but struggle outside of that. Debut is overall better. Still have hope for their future.

You guys are liking this? The entire time I couldn't help but think, what the fuck happened? This is by far the worst release I've ever heard from him. His usual flavor and songwriting has been subbed out by puzzling production and mix decisions and completely aimless songs. The only song that wasn't a single that stands out to me here is Bounce Boy because of its ridiculous instrumentation. Is It Still You In There? sounds like fucking Christmas music. I liked Afterlife and June ... read more
This is a very cool project as a big fan of TOP, but I would NEVER ask a non-TOP fan to listen to this. This has all kinds of issues. I think it's better as an insight into their career and a compilation of demos than a real project. If you love TOP, give this a shot. You'll probably find it really cute. If you don't, save yourself. Listen to Vessel.
Probably the most unique song they've released since RAB, yet it still feels undeniably Twenty One Pilots. The white boys have done it again.
Some incredible moments, and some other moments where you wish Kevin would shut the fuck up and get on with the song. The first half of this record is gold, but after The Past Is A Grotesque Animal it kinda overstays its welcome. The songwriting really loses focus and starts feeling absolutely nonsensical, which is definitely not helped by the fact that it feels like he's trying to use as many big words as possible in every line. It's a very masturbatory album, but if you want a free ... read more
While it's obviously well made, it does absolutely nothing for me. Which is a shame. I wanted to enjoy this. But it feels like whatever creative spark Car Seat Headrest used to have is mostly gone.
Weirdly enough, though I've never had this complaint with him before, Will's vocals here sound pretty awful. Lifeless, which brings its poor tone and range to a forefront. It worked when it was more raw. Something about this is too glossy. I was genuinely relieved when the other band ... read more
