A HA track that finally feels adventurous sonically as well as writing wise. Still nowhere near as good as NNY or the earlier GMYS singles, but I agree with the sentiment that it’s their best since High Up, hopefully their future stuff moves even further toward the direction of their other stuff
Born For Loving You is definitely a much more standard Big Thief song compared to their recent output but I still enjoy it a good deal, they simply can’t make anything that isn’t at least good. Vampire Empire is ofc a banger
One of his prettiest songs which is saying a LOT, so stoked for javelin
I can’t believe I haven’t heard this all the way through until now. Nearly every track felt so unique and strong, not to mention the PHENOMENAL closer track that has-somehow- Mercury’s probably best vocals ever despite his AIDS diagnosis. Going through all of Queen’s albums has made me COMPLETELY abandon the notion that they are overrated, and this album is a perfect example of why Queen rules
The rapping to me has not aged in my mind perfectly but like his other singles, it’s managed to forge a special place in my heart even if objectively I know this song isn’t anything to write home about
Such a heater. During quarantine three years ago I listened to this song numerous times per day and it kept me going, I love this track deeply
One of, if not the very best, live albums ever. Every song is massively transformed in a way that only elevates the tracks as opposed to as a gimmick. Every note, both sung and played, is perfectly chaotic, which encapsulates the energy of the band so damn well. I still prefer the studio versions of most of these tracks bc I was exposed to them first but this is an unabashed masterpiece
This song crafts such a specific sense of longing and sadness that very, very few songs do to me. Strikingly beautiful yet so simple
Bewitched confirms that Laufey’s music is generally style over substance, but a very pleasant style at that. I definitely do wish she would tackle any different source material or change up her sound a bit, but the production and vocals are still as clean as ever. I think I def prefer her debut but this still has some noticeable highs, the general sound just blends together quite heavily by the end. Still, she clearly has a sizable fan base so if it ain’t broke don’t fix it
The hits here are utterly phenomenal but the weak links seriously weigh this thing down, one of the most lopsided records I’ve ever heard
Despite being a Queen fan since I was little I somehow have never heard this record and WOW I was blown away wayyyy more than I expected to be by this. This is easily Queen’s most experimental and sonically interesting record by FAR. The first few tracks are relatively weak but beyond that the LP moves at a blistering pace that’s just so much fun. The March of the Black Queen especially has got to be one of the band’s best. I think still prefer ANATO and Jazz a bit more for ... read more
Such a unique and fascinating compilation that, while obviously not an album that’s good to listen to in one sitting, has many gems in it. Anyone rating this lowly or really at all has missed the point of what this compilation is.
I mean this isn’t anything mind blowing or along the likes of the Stones’ earlier stuff but I think this is pretty great considering their age and where they’re at, I’m decently excited for the upcoming album for sure
This song is a complete can of worms. Although the music itself is outright excellent, the lyrical content of the track can NOT be ignored easily at the least. From all the research I’ve done, I earnestly do believe this track does not reflect truly racist beliefs from Jagger and the rest of the band- much in the same way as how their Satan themed tracks don’t reflect their beliefs as they are not Satanists. Yet, it just can’t be ignored that these lyrics still paint an ... read more
I was expecting this to be a complete mess and while it arguably is, it’s a damn fun mess. I feel like this is the stones’ one true concept album of sorts and, although there are some utterly weird and baffling choices on this record, the highs are genuinely phenomenal. She’s a Rainbow is one of the best love songs I have ever heard and the opener and closer/last couple tracks are fantastic as well. Quite underrated imo I had a lot of fun w it
Probably the single most defining song of the 80s in such a beautifully cheesy way. Sounds so incredibly dated, yet this somehow only works to its benefit
When I was a wee lad I was convinced this was the best song ever. Then when I was in high school I thought it was overrated. Now that I’m almost 21, I have come to my senses again and realize that this thing fucking rules. Maybe not THE best song ever, but it’s damn well one of the best. Absolutely mind numbingly incredible track that is unlike any song made before or since
Could’ve perhaps used a less unfortunate name but still a banger
