I believe that this had potential to be one of Cave’s best albums, but its length really holds it back. It ends up being a weaker version of The Good Son.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seed’s worst album. There’s just nothing special or memorable about it apart from the intro, which I quite enjoyed. The 15 minute outro is pretty unnecessary too.
AB - 8.5/10
TLOO - 7.5/10
Abattoir Blues on its own is definitely one of Nick Cave’s best albums.
Definitely my favorite Gorillaz album. I just love the upbeat and smooth instrumentals, excellent feature choices, and the sound of this thing overall. Some Kind of Nature is probably my favorite Gorillaz song too.
Favorite Tracks: Some Kind of Nature, White Flag, On Melancholy Hill, Sweepstakes
Least Favorite Track: Glitter Freeze
This was one of the weirdest first listens I ever had. The mixing and the random noises threw me off at first and I was not feeling this album. However, I’ve been coming back to Spirit They’re Gone, Spirit They’ve Vanished regularly over the past week or two. The glitchy instrumentals that I once found ear-piercing and unappealing began to click with me and this became one of the most beautiful albums I had ever heard. It’s an album that makes me feel young. It makes me ... read more

Damn I loved this thing. The first two tracks were absolutely incredible but the other three unfortunately left a little to be desired. Still good tracks, but they just didn’t live up to the phenomenal start that this album has to me. I feel like it’s gonna grow on me more though. Dead Magic is eerie with its dark ambient soundscapes, but it’s also beautiful with its wonderful organ-based instrumentals.

Joanna’s voice definitely took some getting used to but the further I got into this thing, the more I enjoyed it. The instrumentation throughout the album is absolutely gorgeous. This is a very good debut for Joanna Newsom.
Favorite Tracks: Sadie, This Side of the Blue, “En Gallop”, Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie
Least Favorite Track: Peach, Plum, Pear
My god this is beautiful. I’ve never played the game, but this makes me want to. What an experience.
I listened to the other 2 Algiers albums yesterday, both of which I enjoyed, and unfortunately this new album is pretty underwhelming. Algiers’ self titled album and The Underside of Power each provided a different take on the post-punk sound. Self Titled was “in your face” and dynamic and The Underside of Power is more stripped back, chilling, and atmospheric. There Is No Year however, tries to do both of these and it doesn’t work for me.

Finally got around to listening to this and I can confirm that this is the textbook “bad album”
If you didn’t already think Eminem has become delusional, this album should convince you that he has.
Eminem has become so disconnected across his past three albums that it is baffling. He seemingly has forgotten what a good beat sounds like, what a good flow sounds like, which lyrics are corny and which aren’t, what a good artist to feature on your album sounds like, etc. Em’s once smooth flow and clever punchlines are gone and they aren’t coming back anytime soon. Yeah, this is my new favorite 21 project. .. if you don't count Without Warning though, cause I still like that one a little more.
Cave’s 3rd studio album is a covers album and it’s pretty decent. Definitely not an essential in his discography, but it’s nice to hear Nick Cave put a different spin on some classic songs.
Favorite Tracks: I’m Gonna Kill That Woman, Hey Joe, The Carnival is Over
Least Favorite Track: All Tomorrow’s Parties :(
On The Firstborn Is Dead, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds take a much different approach than on From Her To Eternity. The album is mostly blues, which is a new style for Cave, but unfortunately the album gets pretty uninteresting as there isn’t much variety in the tracklist. One of his least memorable albums and a weak point in his discography.
Favorite Tracks: Tupelo, Wanted Man, Black Crow King
Least Favorite Track: Say Goodbye to the Little Girl Tree
Begone bots!
Why did I bother listening to this lol. I at least got a good laugh out of the terrible Kid Cudi performance on the outro. Other than that it’s just by the numbers, uninspired pop music.
