Time flies... I cannot believe Ichiko Aoba released this masterpiece close to five years ago now.
I do not think that there exists an album more lush than Windswept Adan. Ichiko's voice is already unmatched in my book, as are her guitar skills, but fleshing out of that serene, folkish atmosphere she has developed across her previous albums is what makes this album my favorite in her entire discography. This was one of the first albums I ever got on vinyl, and my love for this album has only grown with time.
FKA Twigs is a generational artist, and her voice and willingness to experiment in these glitchy, creative sounds makes Magdalene such a powerful listen. Rarely has an artist showcased their personal pain and trials so brazenly before, and much of this album is palpably heartbreaking as FKA Twigs sings with her heart on full display.

Ah, if only Melanie stuck to making music that was more in line with the latter half of this EP, as I actually found myself enjoying Dead To Me and Bittersweet Tragedy.
I also wish that she was not an alleged predator and sang about things she actually relates to, but perhaps I am too idealistic these days or something. Dollhouse and Carousel are still mid lol.
