Donda could have been a great album if it were 45 minutes long. Although some tracks are amazing, the rest of the album is often boring. And when you think it's over, you find yourself listening to some unnecessary pt2 songs that just stretch out the album's length.
That said, I still don't think it's a bad project but it definitely didn't need to be this long.
Favorite tracks: Hurricane, Keep My Spirit Alive
To me the biggest strength of Watch My Back is clearly its hypnotic atmosphere. From the hazy beats to Lucki’s nonchalant flow, everything works together to maintain this mood throughout the record. The tracks are short and can sometimes feel a bit repetitive but in a way it’s also what makes the album so good.
Favorite: Leave With You
Even though TLOP is a mixed bag, it still has some amazing songs that keep the album dynamic from start to finish. Definitely a wild but fun listen
Favorite: No More Parties in LA
I get the concept of this album but honestly the contrast between the mellow and punk tracks sometimes feels unnatural and messy, although the ideas are great. Apart from that, most of the songs are decent or even solid, but again, the album sounds like it's not totally finished.
That said, I think a fully punk album would have been more exciting, provided the execution had matched the ambition. Would have loved to see that.
Overall, an ambitious album that doesn't reach its full ... read more
Wanted to give this album a second chance and to be fair it's not as bad as I expected, however I feel like this album is pretty much a hit or miss. When you get to Gotta Have It, the album loses its momentum. Anyways, Watch The Throne still has some bangers that make it a decent listen overall.
Favorites: Otis, Ni**as in Paris
How can someone enjoy such an album? There is absolutely zero originality and coherence between the tracks, the choruses are just repetitive and uninteresting. Apart from 'Natural' maybe, every track is extremely mid or often bad.
I feel like Origins is trying to be accessible to a wide audience but it just sucks.
Great shoegaze EP with amazing vocals.
night is young and AO. are just two perfect songs, and to be fair the build up in AO. has to be one of the best Ive ever heard
Top 3 of 2023 imo, dont know why this isnt a Must Hear
Ive been adicted to this album and to PinkPantheress lately, there is absolutely no skip but only hits. Like when I dont know what to listen I just play it on shuffle and spend a good time
Favorite tracks: Capable of love, Mosquito
