IDLES - TANGK
86

See this one here yeah? This one’s good.

67

There some super solid production moments and some catchy catchy songs, but by god the whole "I miss the old Kanye" thing really hits home right now. It feels like he's got a bit more of his edge back since Donda, but it's the far end of the spectrum now... (lets not talk about how edgy he be)

I do think hidden within this album is a good project... it just is very messy and long, with some weird ass lyrics.

I still enjoy this more than I think I should

If this came out in the first half of the 2010s it would have popped off. It is a fairly basic pop record, but you can tell there's a bit more "artistry" to it than some of her other records.

Not bad it's just super basic.

USHER - COMING HOME
51

There is no reason on God's green earth that usher should be doing an album that lasts AN HOUR AND SIX MINUTES.

There are likable moments here but it is so bloated to the point you forget and even resent them. Like one of those grass is always greener conundrums...

I would like it to be known that guilty pleasure has to come into account for this album (as someone who has enjoyed the last few Maroon 5 albums I don't think this is a surprise), for example Kissing Strangers just has a ... read more

Shygirl - Club Shy
63

It's house club dance music and there isn't anything wrong with it. All of the tracks are nice and short for the most part as well which makes for a nice easy listen. I much prefer for artists of this genre to do a project like this rather than overdo it in a bloated project so that is also a major plus.

It's nothing crazy but it is easy and enjoyable.

Royel Otis - PRATTS & PAIN
72

The more upbeat songs are really really good, but it feels like with all the hype surrounding them, I wish they had a bit more of a unique take on some of these sounds and made it their own. Especially some of the more punk driven songs, they feel a bit all the same or that they are done better elsewhere.

That being said I did enjoy this project a lot more than I thought I would, so I'm excited to see where they might go next

Little Simz - Drop 7
83

It does feel like a stepping stone more than anything. There is a lively atmosphere to these songs while maintaining the quality that she's known for. We already know what she is capable of for a full length project, so seeing her have a little more fun with a short 14 minute project in terms of a few more upbeat dance numbers is more than welcome. She also has some really unique deliveries on this EP, which add a different level of depth and character.

While I'd love to see what ... read more

Declan McKenna - What Happened to the Beach?
79

I really didn't like this album when I first listened, it wasn't as charming as his others felt. But since revisiting this album sounds really mature, and it truly does feel like a step forward for the most part. There are some quirks that work and others that don't but it's not bad by any standard

I've seen a lot of comparisons made to Paul McCartney, and it feels extremely evident on this album, where there are such a wide range of "hit and miss" ... read more

Brittany Howard - What Now
91

It's so strange but my reaction to this album is always "Damn I hope Gorillaz make a follow up to their Humanz album" , because a collab with this sound from Brittany would be amazing. Or even a collaboration with Gambino? Both would be interesting.

But with regards to this album it is one of the best sounding albums of the year by a country mile. It has unique instrumentals and vocals, there is not many places where she can go wrong, and she doesnt.

I loved this album, and ... read more

Chelsea Wolfe - She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She
50

I've tried and tried to like this album, and while I can understand a certain level of artistry, this music I've come to realize is just not meant for me. I find it a bit boring and where most tracks on the project are over 4 minutes, it really does become difficult to maintain my interests when it is the same formula of verse chorus verse chorus bridge chorus.

I get why people would enjoy this, I just unfortunately don't

Soulja Boy - Swag 6
38

I yearn for the day when Soulja Boy just goes back to his old sound, like a full nostalgic album from him would be great,

But a 20 song 45 minute project? Not really it...Nothing overtly BAD BAD, but nothing interesting or good either... just a chore overall

Icewear Vezzo - Live From The 6
56

It's fine it's just a bit bloated and repetitive, it's hard to think of standout moments, but there aren't any bad ones,

Easy listening but very forgettable

TiaCorine - Almost There
63

I don't have any real complaints about this album, it's fun and fine with some cool production and catchy melodies, I think it is a bit basic but it's likeable and easy listening,

Hit-Boy & The Alchemist - THEODORE & ANDRE
64

I wish so bad that there were at least 2 more tracks to this project, 3 for this EP is criminal.

Of course there are some weird lyrics but for the most part this is a pretty solid work but it goes by too fast for my liking

The Last Dinner Party - Prelude to Ecstasy
77

I love the main single from this album as do many others, it is a certified bop. But every time I have tried to revisit the album I always feel like the rest of the tracks are missing something?

I still think it’s a great project and it definitely has grown on me but I just wish the album as a whole maintained the energy of the penultimate track, if it did it would be in the 90s

1999 WRITE THE FUTURE - hella (˃̣̣̥╭╮˂̣̣̥) ✧ ♡ ‧º·˚
80

I had to give this album like 3 or 4 listens back when it initially dropped until I could fully appreciate what was going on. Yes there is some mess but its not a bad messy? the transitions are generally done well, and the poppy jazzy elements of the album have a nice blend. I think this is just the beginning of something genuinely special, and can't wait to see more from this collective

Tom Odell - Black Friday
85

With this being my 50th review I feel like I am truly beginning to understand what music I like, and this ticks a lot of those boxes. It is melancholy, it is beautiful and it is unique. The atmosphere of this album really does just cover you like a big sad blanket and lets you lie there to take it all in

BONES - Champion
68

It is a very short project, nothing lingers for longer than it has to, and the general sound is just simple and pretty. It's not trying too hard to do something completely different but it still manages to have it's own little vibe to it which I ended up quite enjoying for the most part.

Brad stank - In The Midst of You
75

I remember stumbling across Brad Stank in 2017, when I was only 15 years old. Both him and Puma Blue opened up this new world of music for me, so for thay I will always have a special space in my heart for him.

Now, 7 years later, not only is it good to see him stll making music, but still making such good music. Its simple and good and nice.

We like :)

SENTRIES - Snow as a Metaphor for Death
60

It might not be everyones cup of tea and I might not revisit, but it sure is some decent noise rock.
