Some good moments amongst what is otherwise a largely inconsistent album. I like his experimentation with UK garage / DnB but wish there was less of the female vocal that reappeared throughout.
An excellent fusion of experimental electronic and bangin techno / club tunes, melded together with flawless production.
Favourite tracks include; ForTee / Mathew Keeps Me Pirrie / It's Tough, But Not As Much As The Dream Is Worth (Joseph)
An enjoyable ambient album with some nice IDM and classical influences. This one doesn't beat 'Strands' for me but does overtake his last work 'Dissolvi'.
Favourite tracks include; Attractor B / Nonlin / Reverse Culture Music.
Fantastic selection of tracks which each hold true emotion that is reminiscent of the gameplay. Thank You to Rockstar and everyone involved in the production of RDR2.
Absolute Masterpiece. Hard to put into words, my appreciation for the technicalities of this album.
Favourite tracks: Right in Two / Jambi / The Pot
Long live TooL.
Without straying too far from the stylee of Radiohead, Thom's debut solo project incorporates the juxtaposition of his smooth voice and piano playing, against the glitchy beats, synthesizers and beat box backing vocals, to create grooves you can't help but nod along to. The lyrics are depressive in nature and are largely left to interpretation from the listener, making even Harrowdown Hill, (a track about dead British weapons expert David Kelly) feel relatable. Good work Thom 10/10.
An incredibly compelling, emotional album which captivates the listener through it's avant garde production and soulful vocals. Portisheads' debut album still holds up as one of the greatest trip hop albums of all time and some of the best music to come out of Bristol, UK.
Captivating poetry from Skinner, on an album that was extremely ahead of it's time and essential to the British popular music scene.
