In short: Falling In Reverse is doing irreversable damage to mainstream metal music.
I don't remember who recommended me this but I genuinely hope you have a nice day. It's like if Ronnie Radke became the frontman of Sleep Token and tried to sound as obnoxious as a System Of A Down song. Only catch is, SOAD is actually wacky and talented and has a message other than...

I'm glad that I skipped this and went to Miss Machine because I feel like I wouldn't appreciate it as much as I did. This one, though, it's like they took the remaining energy they had from their first album and went all in, and they indeed did, plus whatever Mike Patton had going on. It has the same aggression and proggy nightmare that you got from Calculating Infinity, and even more intensity with Mike Patton being involved. Yeah I gave it a 100.
"Okay thank you! That ended kinda mellow so we're gonna get right on with it back with the REALLY AGGRESSIVE STUFF, let's see you tear it up! OF FIRE... AND FUCKING... PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII- *explodes*"
Vanitas is an album I will never get the mixed response of. How can you call this a decline in quality? I mean, they kind of were bridging up towards becoming borderline deathcore, but even then this is like a more industrialized In The Constellation. Also, this was ... read more
From my home city comes EASILY one of the greatest grindcore albums ever made. It's definitely not the most influential grindcore album out there, but it's one of those where it nails pretty much everything that made the genre so amazing and interesting in the first place. Absolutely crushing riffs, great extreme metal vocals from one of my favorite vocalists from this genre, crushing and nasty production, and, on top of that, an extremely Southern-ish death grind guitar tone. Just ... read more
I think that two of these hooks are great and then the song "Struck Dead" is pretty mediocre. As a matter of fact, "Struck Dead" might actually be the most mediocre Trivium song ever recorded, on par with the lackluster songs off of "Vengeance Falls" or "In Waves". Another thing about this EP is that the songs overdo the instrumental bits. Because of that, the times when the songs are supposed to go the hardest end up being the weakest parts of the song. ... read more
Yup. Converge is still hard hitting like usual. Though, I gotta admit, it's not exactly their best output, but I am definitely content with what they delivered. Great flow from track to track, good production (not their best but it definitely works), and, of course, their peak songwriting capabilities. They're still the greatest metalcore band pretty much of all time, and I don't think anyone can disagree with that take.
I gotta be perfectly honest. I absolutely love the direction they took with this album. I expected to dislike it, as it seemed like one of those really safe radio metal albums that wouldn't have any personality to it. However, this album has some awesome radio metal with that old-school Trivium flavor added to it. Honestly, it kind of reminds me of Breaking Benjamin a little, and other bands like them, but even with the comparisons, the whole album just slaps. It's not technically as ... read more
The direction Trivium goes in for In Waves, their previous studio album before this, is not really my kinda Trivium, but honestly, they still can write some good songs. I think it's a very consistent project with a great final two tracks. However, it kind of lacks the risk-taking that something like "Shogun" had. It might be their safest album yet in my eyes, which kind of makes this a less interesting album by itself. I guess it's still technically good; it's just not ... read more
Gonna back up Phobix on this one; this is one damn good grindcore album. And from Texas! That's where I live! Hell yeah motherfucker
Three Days Grace worship but I love it, it's easily one of my favorite radio alt rock releases. They had some minor success back in the day with the song "Left 4 Dead", but honestly it's not just that and "Lose My Life" which are cool. It's jampacked with songs that have some sort of pretty nostalgic tinge to them, and honestly, again, with the Three Days Grace comparison, it kind of reminds me of "Life Starts Now" from the same year. Other ... read more
Kanye just straight up doing some really funny stuff but also some really real stuff on this one. I don't really know why, but Kanye just kinda has the most unique lyrics to me when it comes to hip hop. Everytime I hear his music it's just really fun and jumpy, but then sometimes he can take it real mellow and still have the same tone that made everything else fun. I don't know how to explain it further than that. Kanye was just the goat.
Sad that he kinda was always a bit crazy ... read more
This is honestly the grindcore album that actually got me to like grindcore. Before then a lot of it sounded like it was extremely unhinged and bonkers for my taste, but after Anaal Nathrakh clicked for me (somehow), I decided that Pig Destroyer was a pretty good next bet. Especially since my friend @supera was digging them too, I had to check this one out. "Trojan Whore" just hit like a million blades at once, so I knew by then that I absolutely had to check this out. At this point, ... read more
It was probably going to be pretty hard to top off Shogun, so I'll take it as it is. This is just kind of a solid Trivium album with some solid riffs, solid hooks, solid everything really. It also seems pretty geeky, and I'm not really as into that kinda stuff for like half the time, so maybe this isn't my favorite album by them because of that. Hopefully someone gets where I'm coming from with that analysis. The title track and "Caustic Are The Ties That Bind" are ... read more
The Blackening, but with Japanese themes of badassery. Literally everything I love about metalcore in one album. I feel like this album was the sendoff for this amazing era of metalcore, with a lot of melodic metalcore hits and great bands, this is pretty much an artistic conclusion and expression of the era as a whole. Everything I loved about all these great metalcore bands before the transition to the twinkified radio metalcore that would follow. Sure the album wasn't the last that ... read more
Kind of quite literally everything that just kinda turns me off of modern day Metallica. It's just... Meh. There isn't anything that remotely makes me want to come back to it, but at the same time it's still good in its own regard. At the same time of it being good, there's literally nothing to comment on that really got me interested. If you REALLY REALLY love Metallica, you'll probably dig it. Metallica being Metallica.
Quite possibly the coolest duo of all time (other than Anaal Nathrakh of course). There isn't a single group out there that I think has this much bizarre creativity within their music, and, at times, when you hear NSB's music, you either feel a lot of emotion, discomfort, and everything in between. The Godspeed You! Black Emperor comparisons are extremely accurate but I feel like this band takes it way up a notch. This album is like if GY!BE and Tim Hecker had an orgy, and this was ... read more
I'm kind of conflicted when I consider which album is better... "The Winter Ray" or "The Dance of the Moon and the Sun". I guess it really depends on the day, but I feel like you really can't compare the two either. I feel like they're just drastically different in presentation. I think as an experience I prefer this album, as The Winter Ray's first disc completely numbs my ears, and sometimes it's a bit much (and hence why I never gave it a 100 ... read more
I feel like this is an extremely underappreciated record considering how much praise "Terrifyer" and "Prowler In The Yard" get. Personally I love how hardcore this album gets, and it's definitely one of their most consistent releases to date. The artwork, from the cover to the insert, is absolutely fantastic. I love the guitar tone here (especially on "The Diplomat" and the first two tracks, as well as "Dirty Knife" and "Permanent ... read more
I'm not even gonna lie, like, this was actually pretty sick. I mean, "Stand Up And Scream" is pretty good, but honestly I feel like my rating for that album might have been a little high. This album might be the better version of what they were trying to do. It's definitely got more mature songwriting (if you could call this band mature at all), and the breakdowns and the choruses hit much harder. Even though I don't really get the best impression from Danny Worsnop and ... read more
Bolt Thrower is... Bolt Thrower again on this album. They're one of those bands, like Cannibal Corpse, Meshuggah, or Lamb of God, where they can make the same song like every single time, yet, every single time, it still kicks ass. Honestly? They might be the best example of that. Their guitar tone is so good that they probably could just record the same riff for every song and I'd still give it the same rating. Not to mention, some of these riffs sound absolutely badass, like the ... read more
