Vince Staples - Cry Baby

Love love love ❤️🤍💙 Love how direct the lyrics are, especially on a topic like this. Love that Staples doesn’t mention Trump, but rather the history of America as a whole as that’s where the problem really stems from, and what should be the main focus.

Dusty Springfield - A Girl Called Dusty

A good cover album, Dusty has a really great voice. I do still enjoy the original versions of the songs she’s singing best, but this album clearly shows the talent that Dusty housed which I imagine was especially new and exciting for people in early 60’s England.

Talk Talk - The Colour of Spring

Very good album, Talk Talk always makes me want to take shrooms when I listen to their albums. Might come back specifically with this one in mind.

The Residents - Duck Stab / Buster & Glen

Liked this a lot more than I went in expecting. One of the lowest rated albums on the 1001 generator, which I guess isn’t shocking as people on there don’t seem to really like earlier experimental stuff. Would be shocked if Ween was NOT inspired by these guys. Cool stuff, definitely going to check out the rest of their discography after this.

Röyksopp - Melody A.M.

Gorgeous beautiful breathtaking album that unfortunately does have some songs that just suck, but also houses some of my favorite songs of all time that were my earliest entry to downtempo.

Eric Clapton - 461 Ocean Boulevard

Alright Eric “Stop Britain from becoming a black colony” Clapton, have fun with your little blues + reggae album. Why not cover I shot the sheriff too, as a treat. Let’s also do the song from the Lorax 40 years early, while we’re at it.

Would get a higher score if the guy didn’t keep roleplaying being a gynecologist randomly between songs lmao

David Bowie - ★ [Blackstar]

A gorgeous album, that by coincidence, was able to heighten its message to astronomical heights with its proximity to Bowie's passing.

Willie Colón & Rubén Blades - Siembra

A classic in a lot of Spanish-speaking households for a good reason. Even if you don't speak the language, do yourself a favor and give it a listen. It's so good, it'll convince you to go try out the local Spanish 101 class lol.

Faves: Plástico, Siembra

LCD Soundsystem - american dream

I'm gonna bluntly say some of these songs plain suck, but a good handful have some insanely awesome New Wave stuff that sounds straight out of 1981. I like them so much, I'm willing to overlook stuff like Oh Baby, yikes.

Faves: i used to, how do you sleep?

Arcade Fire - Funeral

Oh my god, I finally understand what all those awful quirky 2010's indie rock bands were *trying* to sound like. This fucks so hard.

Neil Young - Harvest

The Neil Young album of all time. The one I would show to someone if they said they hated his voice, but were still willing to give him a chance. Neil Young has a crazy amount of hits and just generally amazing songs, but Harvest deadass feels like a greatest hits compilation with how many insane bangers it houses: Out on the Weekend, Heart of Gold, Old Man, Alabama, The Needle and the Damage Done, etc. etc. This is the Folk Rock equivalent of Michael Jackson's Thriller to me.

my bloody valentine - m b v

I mean, Loveless was always going to be a tough act to have to follow, especially 12 years later, but there were definitely some choices made, like adding a random recorder that sounds straight out of a 3rd-grade music classroom to some songs. Not for me.

Faves: None individually, but all together it's fine, I guess.
