Solid jazz album with a great pallet. Highly recommend this.
Man it makes me so happy that he has found his peace. Earl's discog is so good but this is pure catharsis after years of the void.
Idk I'm probably being a bitch but this project ain't click with me like his past work.
Skin Meadow is a crazy intro track. Intense, passionate, and gross. It's got killer theremin and horns.
Lily Pad Pupils has really cool blues chords. In general this project has a fantastic sound palate.
Forgotten pop star is right but it is no surprise that's the case. The writing is corporate bullshit. She not once plays to any of her strengths. She (or the record label) really wanted to be Nicki so baaad. Swagger Jagger is a legit candidate for the worst song ever made.
I will say though that this is a fun listen with a friend. It's so perfectly bad if you like torture.
Review #800!
Viper is an awful person but this was a classic.
Typical production from Al. Boldy simply never misses. No matter what project of his I listen to he is so damn consistent. I can't remember if I have talked about this on another review or not but I really hate the arguments against him saying that he spits a bunch of bars that have no quotables. 1. because that just isn't true. He's got plenty of great punchlines. 2. The vibe of his music is more what I fuck with than anything else.
I really like how I learned about Rejjie Snow from Clairo and DOOM. There are a few good songs on this but it isn't anything special. Good vibes doe.
Still holds up really well. Great indie pop album.
Pristine, Heat Wave, and Stick are amazing.
This shit needs a must listen tag so bad. One of the best Future Funk albums ever.
This was one of my favorite albums in high school but on revisiting it I am wondering what happened. There are parts that I really like but others that are literally unlistenable. GOLD, FACE, and WASTE are still really fucking good but most of what's here is really mid to bad. The talent disparity in the group is really apparent here. Decent songs will just be fucking ruined by an awful ending or there will be a part in the middle of a song that throws everything off. The bad parts legit ... read more
A friend said that I should give this another listen so I am. I think that leaning more into the melodic side of his talent was a really smart decision. A lot of the problems that I have with X's music is that he tended to hold himself back with his pen. He tends to try too hard and ends up not saying anything that doesn't come off melodramatic.
I really do not like the Trippie feature on this. X does fine but the hook is really bad.
I really fuck with the production on this. The ... read more
High ceiling and mid floor. Shit was so fire in high school and some of it still holds up well. One of my favorites of the SC era.
